The Team

Black & Veatch's Infrastructure Advisory Business provides a portfolio of solutions focused on the asset

lifecycle, including Asset Management & Operations & Maintenance, Infrastructure Technology, Cybersecurity Solutions, Planning and Transactions. In this role you will be part of the Delivery Team supporting Solutions.

You will be working primarily with the Asset Engineering Solution, and will also have the opportunity to support other solutions including the Operations & Maintenance Solution. Infrastructure Advisory's operating model provides the ability to move where your skills are needed and allows for a collaborative and innovative culture offering greater challenges and career development opportunities.

The Opportunity

Black & Veatch is seeking an exceptional professional to join our Infrastructure Advisory organization as a Senior Specialist to deliver various operations and maintenance related projects for power generation assets. Infrastructure Advisory focuses on the lifecycle management of assets, and you will be joining a team of dedicated professionals who are aligned with Black & Veatch's Purpose, Building a World of Difference, by helping our clients optimize the use and life of their assets.

In this role you will have the opportunity to:

  • Use your Operational and Maintenance experience to evaluate a variety of both conventional and renewable technologies as well as develop and implement decommissioning and separation planning of retired client assets.
  • Deliver innovative solutions to address our client's most pressing issues, utilizing your specialized knowledge of power generation assets, condition assessments, outage planning and management, development of procedures and specifications, and contract support.
  • Work on small single to large multi-facility asset projects primarily in the US, including time on site performing assessments and inspections (travel approximately 20% of your time).
  • Grow your skills, expand your professional network, and shape a rewarding career path aligned with your aspirations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical consulting on new and existing Power Generation EPC, Modifications & Upgrades, and O&M projects.
  • Work directly with Clients and Solution Project Managers on developing asset assessment and decommissioning projects.
  • Work with the O&M Solution to support development of new contracts
  • Develop outage management and process procedures for clients
  • Work with the Solution Project Managers to develop proposals and scopes of work for clients, and create fee estimates
  • Lead preparation of reports (including assessment studies), presentations and other deliverables. Manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements, and contribute to quality reviews of assigned projects.
  • Actively coordinate with team members and subject matter experts to ensure high-quality deliverables and successful project outcomes.
  • Proactively develop additional knowledge and experience in power generation O&M and other relevant topics. Mentor professionals in latest technology and processes.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 15 years of experience as a Plant Engineer with extensive experience in Maintenance and Operations repair and replacement of conventional boilers firing coal, gas, and oil, Heat Recovery Heat Exchangers (HRSG's), Combustion and Steam Turbines, Generators, Balance of Plant (BOP) and electrical and controls equipment.
  • Experience with conventional power generation, Simple and Combined cycle gas turbines (SCGT and CCGT), and solid fuel handling, including:
    • Power Plant Operations & Maintenance Processes, Construction, Outage, Startup, and routine operation and maintenance field experience.
    • Outage management and planning processes, including writing technical Power Plant Outage reports.
    • Power Plant O&M and Capital budget planning and monitoring.
    • Experience with regulatory and environmental requirements that must be addressed during O&M and Outage planning phase.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Arts or Science, preferably in business, technology, or engineering OR relevant business experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years related work experience
