Job description

General Manager – Operations & Logistics

Location: Anchorage, AK

About the Opportunity

Join a global leader in aviation support services that operates one of the most complex logistics and production networks in the industry. This confidential opportunity offers the chance to lead a large-scale, 24/7 operation supporting cargo and aviation customers in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.

This is far more than a traditional General Manager role. You'll oversee every aspect of the operation—from financial performance and workforce leadership to production, transportation, and customer service. The Anchorage facility is one of the company's most dynamic locations, where changing flight schedules, weather impacts, and operational demands require a leader who can adapt quickly, solve problems in real time, and keep multiple departments aligned.

You'll lead an operation of approximately 170–250 employees, with roughly 10 department managers reporting into you across operations, transportation, production, warehouse, quality, and support functions. Success in this role requires balancing strategic leadership with hands-on operational involvement while developing future leaders, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring the operation consistently delivers exceptional service.

If you enjoy leading large teams, improving operations, and making decisions that directly impact business performance, this is an opportunity to make a significant impact within a growing global organization.

Why You'll Love Working Here

  • Medical, Dental & Vision coverage starting Day 1
  • Employer-paid Life Insurance & AD&D
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid vacation, sick time, and holidays
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Free meals and parking
  • Career growth opportunities within a global organization
  • Performance-based bonus opportunity

What You'll Do

  • Lead all aspects of a large, multi-department operation with responsibility for operational performance, financial results, and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee a workforce of approximately 170–250 employees through a team of department managers.
  • Own the site's budget, P&L, and annual business plan.
  • Ensure safe, efficient, and on-time execution across production, logistics, transportation, and warehouse operations.
  • Drive operational improvements that increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
  • Develop, coach, and mentor department leaders while building a strong leadership pipeline.
  • Manage staffing, labor planning, equipment, inventory, and facility resources.
  • Partner closely with HR, Finance, Supply Chain, Sales, Quality, and other business partners to achieve operational goals.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, transportation, regulatory, and workplace safety standards, including FDA, USDA, OSHA, DOT, and HACCP requirements.
  • Foster a culture focused on safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and employee engagement.
  • Oversee capital projects and operational initiatives that support long-term growth and performance.
  • Build strong customer relationships and ensure service commitments are consistently met.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent operational leadership experience.
  • Experience leading large operations within logistics, transportation, manufacturing, distribution, aviation, food production, or another complex operational environment.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple departments and leading frontline leaders.
  • Experience owning operational budgets, financial performance, and business results.
  • Background implementing process improvements or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong operational decision-making skills in fast-paced, high-volume environments.
  • Experience leading large hourly workforces; union experience is a plus.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Comfortable leading a 24/7 operation that occasionally requires evenings or weekends based on business needs.

Preferred Backgrounds

Candidates from industries such as logistics, final-mile delivery, 3PL, aviation, airport operations, manufacturing, distribution, food production, or other high-volume operational environments are highly encouraged to apply.
