Job description

Implements EHS, environment only, or health and safety only policies and programs within a business group at the regional or business line level. Advises organization on regulatory changes and investigates the most major incidents and ensures risks are addressed. Oversees EHS reporting and documentation to ensure proper execution according to internal and external standards. Oversees the training of employees on EHS policies, procedures and regulations. University degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. 8 Years suggested minimum experience.

What you will do
You will be responsible for fostering a world class Health and Safety culture with Johnson Controls' Data Center Solutions (DCS)/Silent-Aire business. By providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship to employees at all levels within the manufacturing facilities, you will be instrumental in the improvement of Silent-Aire's Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) performance.
How you will do it
  • Work with the Director and other Regional EHS Managers to establish corporate EHS policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Implementation of the organization's Environment, Health and Safety Management System(s).
  • Participate in annual document reviews with the intent to improve upon existing corporate EHS policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Track and maintain local EHS Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including the publishing of such data for internal stakeholders.
  • Act as a positive change agent in supporting corporate EHS visions and new initiatives.
  • Manage, coach and mentor a team of local EHS Coaches to help implement the corporate EHS Management System(s) within their location of responsibility.
  • Track and advise local leadership on current and proposed changes to applicable federal, provincial/state, or municipal health, safety, and environment legislation to ensure compliance.
  • Manage Workers Compensation claims and accounts within region of responsibility to ensure local reporting requirements are met and claims are managed until closed.
  • Manage Silent-Aire's EHS tracking system within region of responsibility to ensure inputs and outputs are meeting the organizations requirements.
  • Provide to local leadership regular updates, reports, and suggestions for improvement on operational EHS issues.
  • Advise management and supervisors on regulatory requirements for the control of hazards.
  • Support the education and training of employees on health, safety, and environment practices.
  • Lead near-miss and incident investigations as per the organization's incident management process.
  • Review hazard and incident reports and hazard reports to identify trends and opportunities that need improvement.
  • Perform or aid in the completion of external or internal environment, health and safety audits including the development of action plans.
  • Other tasks and duties as allocated.

What we look for
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Occupational Safety, Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science
  • Minimum of six (6) years of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment
  • Experience in developing, managing, and auditing EHS management systems, including ISO 45001, 14001, COR Auditor certified
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Workers Compensation and Return to Work programs
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Strong knowledge in federal, provincial/state, or municipal health, safety, and environment legislation
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Proven interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written
  • Comfortable with periodic travel that is required in this role

Preferred:
  • CSP designation or qualified to obtain
