Operations Specialist, Full-Time, Day Shift
Starting Pay Rate: The pay range for this position is $26.46 - $39.70 per hour, based on experience
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Introduction
This position is non-supervisory in the routine operations of an air carrier airport and industrial park.
Essential Functions
  • Create and maintain manuals, directives, rules and regulations, and statistical evaluations. Make recommendations on own initiative for improvement of airport security, safety, and operations.
  • Conduct inspections of, and submit reports on, the condition of runways, taxiways, ramps, hangars, and all other airport facilities to ensure regulatory compliance with the Airport Certification Manual, Wildlife Hazard Management Plan, Snow and Ice Control Plan, Airport Emergency Plan, and other procedures and regulations required by FAR Part 139.
  • Conduct inspections of, and submit reports on, the condition of airpark grounds and facilities, and routinely keep supervisors and colleagues apprised of the condition of the industrial park property.
  • Hours will vary during snow removal and emergency situations.
  • Perform office duties as assigned in the airport operations department, including the effective use of computer systems to record and retrieve data.
  • Train airport employees, vendors, and tenants in a variety of topics related to airport and airpark operations.
  • Other duties, tasks, and responsibilities may be assigned at any time.
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is a crucial function of the position.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to take initiative to identify areas and/or items in need of attention.
  • Strong working knowledge of FAR Part 139 requirements
  • Must be able to successfully complete tasks and projects within the prescribed timeline without direct supervision.
  • Speak with clarity, and write and read English fluently.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized form.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Operate motor vehicle in safe manner.
  • Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions of an airport and industrial park.
  • Knowledge of air carrier airport operations and security.
  • Considerable knowledge in the operation of computer systems and software programs.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management or similar subject area; or a minimum of three years of experience in the operation of a Part 139 Airport; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Lift and/or move up to 70lbs. utilizing safe and proper lifting techniques and equipment.
  • Safely climb in and out of trucks, and up and down stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, stand, and walk.
  • Specific vision abilities required, such as close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Endure various work environment characteristics to include climatic temperature extremes such as cold, hot, wet, and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts/ equipment.

Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment will be provided by the Lincoln Airport Authority.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works in high places; in outside weather conditions; and is occasionally exposed, with appropriate PPE, to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Condition of Employment
The employee is required to meet the essential functions, skills, abilities, etc., listed in this document. The employee must be at least 18 years of age. Successful completion of pre-employment reference check, criminal history check (required by the Transportation Security Administration), physical assessment, drug screening, MVR (motor vehicle report), and other requirements as per Lincoln Airport Authority policy. Any associated costs for the screenings will be covered by the Lincoln Airport Authority. The employee must possess, when hired, and maintain while employed, a valid State of Nebraska driver's license and be insurable under normal rates. Also, the employee must obtain a CDL license and be airfield certified within six months of hire.
