Job Description

Position Title: Director of Facilities and Operations

Location: Office of Operations

Pay Scale/Salary Class/Days: Administrative Pay Scale / Grade 37 / 240 Days / 8 Hours Per Day

Responsibilities
  • Manages all construction and ongoing maintenance of facilities for the District.
  • Prepares and monitors the departmental budget by projecting needs, monitoring expenditures, determining staffing needs, overseeing payroll for maintenance staff, and allocating funds for department operational expenses.
  • Establishes policies and procedures for ongoing review of repair programs and coordinates the scheduling of repairs to facilities.
  • Manages purchasing and general contracting functions for District facilities.
  • Assists district staff and school principals in reviewing facilities regarding existing and potential problems.
  • Operates under limited supervision.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, civil engineering, construction management, facilities management, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Five years of experience in facility operations or management, including experience in an administrative or supervisory role.
  • Valid and current Professional Engineer (PE) designation preferred.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, planning and scheduling, cost accounting, computer programs, supervisory practices and principles, purchasing and contracting policies and practices.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with supervisors, peers, and subordinates.
  • MAY require a valid state driver’s license.
