The school district is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Maintenace Director to provide leadership and oversight of all district maintenance operations. The successful candidate must possess strong leadership and management skills along with some knowledge of the major areas of maintenance (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, etc.).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide overall leadership, supervision, and direction for the district maintenance department and maintenance personnel.
  • Establish high expectations for employee performance, productivity, professionalism, and quality of work.
  • Assign, prioritize, monitor, and evaluate maintenance work throughout the district.
  • Manage the district's work-order system and ensure maintenance requests are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Provide technical leadership in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Evaluate whether equipment should be repaired or replaced based on age, condition, reliability, repair cost, and expected service life.
  • Oversee electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, roofing, grounds, and general building maintenance operations.
  • Supervise outside contractors and vendors and ensure contracted work meets district expectations.
  • Obtain and evaluate quotes, estimates, equipment specifications, and proposals.
  • Assist with developing and managing the maintenance department budget.
  • Maintain appropriate inventories of equipment, parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety requirements, building codes, environmental regulations, and district policies.
  • Conduct regular inspections of district facilities and identify maintenance, safety, and operational concerns before they become major problems.
  • Communicate effectively with school administrators regarding maintenance needs, schedules, projects, and facility concerns.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
