Overview

The Tyndale Company is seeking a Software Development Manager to join our dynamic IT department! The purpose of this position is to guide the design and implementation of the most stable, effective IT systems for the companyโ€™s current and future needs. Coach and support the development team and contractors to create and maintain enterprise applications and systems that meets the service level agreement requirements of the business and supports the applications and solutions required to operate day-to-day.

HYBRID/REMOTE: Tyndale supports a strong work-life balance. This opportunity requires onsite work a minimum of 2 days per week, and 3 days per week remotely. To be considered, candidates must reside within a commutable distance from our corporate headquarters in Pipersville, PA (Bucks County) or our location in Houston, TX (City Centre).

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of software developers and supporting contractors. Conduct regular one-on-ones, provide timely feedback, support career development, identify skill gaps, and help create a high-accountability, collaborative engineering culture.
  • Manage team capacity, assignments, priorities, and day-to-day execution. Support hiring, onboarding, performance management, and contractor/vendor coordination as needed.
  • Lead or support Agile planning, backlog refinement, sprint planning, release planning, dependency management, and project status communication. Ensure work is delivered with appropriate quality, documentation, testing, and operational readiness.
  • Embed security, testing, and reliability into the software development lifecycle. Ensure appropriate use of secure coding practices, automated testing, dependency/vulnerability management, access controls, secrets management, and production-readiness reviews.
  • Support applications operating in hybrid cloud and on-premises environments. Work with infrastructure, security, and operations teams to ensure development practices align with deployment, monitoring, backup, recovery, performance, and support requirements.
  • Support modernization of legacy applications, integrations, development workflows, and technical documentation. Guide responsible use of AI-assisted development tools while maintaining code quality, security, and review standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in information technology or computer science required; equivalent experience demonstrating comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities in the relevant functional area may be considered in lieu of a directly related degree
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional software development or software engineering experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years leading, mentoring, or managing software developers, either as a formal people manager, development lead, or technical lead.
  • Strong experience with C#, .NET, and .NET Core application development.
  • Experience communicating scope, requirements, risks, timelines, and tradeoffs to stakeholders across the organization.
  • Strong coaching, communication, prioritization, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
