Job Title: People Operations Specialist (HR Operations Assistant)

Industry: Corporate / Professional Services

Location (City, State): Reston, VA (Remote – must be local to Reston/Herndon area)

Assignment Type: Contract (up to 12 months)

Pay: $25.00–$27.00/hour (depending on experience)

Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (40 hours/week); fully remote with quarterly onsite meetings

Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).

Job Description:

The People Operations Specialist will serve as a key point of contact for HR-related inquiries while providing administrative and operational support across a wide range of human resources functions. This individual will play an integral role in maintaining HR systems, supporting employees, and ensuring processes are executed efficiently and accurately.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a primary resource for employees by responding to HR-related questions and providing guidance on policies and procedures
  • Support a variety of HR functions, including onboarding, employee relations, compensation, benefits, and performance processes
  • Maintain and update employee records and HR systems to ensure data integrity and compliance
  • Assist in administering employee benefits and act as a point of contact for benefits-related inquiries
  • Update internal HR documentation and intranet resources to ensure accuracy and accessibility
  • Generate reports related to compliance, HR metrics, and internal tracking needs
  • Monitor and manage HR data, including KPIs, documentation, and records retention
  • Collaborate with internal teams to improve workflows and support ongoing HR initiatives
Qualifications:
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English (required)
  • Minimum of 2+ years of HR experience in a professional office setting
  • Familiarity with HRIS platforms such as Workday and/or SharePoint strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
