OverviewThe Logistics Manager, through effective utilization of logistical planning and coordination with internal teams and external partners, will optimize the flow of materials from source to site, in order to increase efficiency and productivity that will reduce costs and maximize project profitability. The Logistics Manager is responsible for all aspects of the logistics supply chain, fabrication delivery management, development and optimization of manufacturing logistics solutions, for the entire mechanical scope of the facility. 

Responsibilities

  • Under the general supervision, and in partnership with other regional and project operational leaders, evaluates “current state” of project delivery processes and identifies ways to optimize the flow of materials from source to site.
  • Evaluates potential logistics suppliers and/or solutions and appropriate delivery management processes and systems, and coordinates with internal or external delivery teams to select the best options. 
  • Plans and integrates with key team members, including warehouse and manufacturing teams, and project teams, to meet the needs of the planned delivery methods and de-confliction of space and time where appropriate.
  • In collaboration with production floor managers and project teams, plans facility set-up requirements, in order to move materials and equipment around facility efficiently.  This includes planning internal and external logistics routes, and material zones.
  • Pre-plans the usage of key assets and equipment, to meet the needs of the manufacturing facility.
  • Creates logistics operational procedures and method statements. 
  • Keeps records and produces key performance indicator (KPI) reports.
  • Creates a daily, weekly and long-term movement plan, and communicates progress of plan to leaders and project management, on an ongoing basis. Monitors plan for variations and communicates foreseeable changes to the manufacturing team. 
  • Manages all movements of materials to and from manufacturing facility and keeps associated records.   
  • Embraces a delivery-focused culture, and collaborates with internal operations teams, (including warehouse, fabrication, and project management), to continually enhance outcomes.
  • Organizes resources to enable contract deadlines to be achieved.
  • Partners with regional/site safety teams to enforce all of the company’s safety policies and practices as they pertain to logistics/delivery. 
  • Responsible for ensuring that material movement to and from the workface does not cause damage to the works, the workforce or the public.
  • Creates and delivers logistics program training to team members as required.
  • Selects a delivery management technique, process and system.
  • Provides logistics instruction to all suppliers. 
  • Assists with the maintenance of an asset register of all equipment.

Job Scope: 

The Logistics Manager is responsible for managing the entire order cycle to enhance business development and ensure sustainability and customer satisfaction. The Logistics Manager will partner very closely with the manufacturing teams, regional operations leadership team, project managers, warehouse, and external partners. 
Management Responsibility:  

Supervisor – responsible for hiring, performance management and pay administration for subordinates. Supervised positions: Tools Manager, Warehouse Assistant.

RequirementsEducation & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Logistics or Supply Chain preferred; however, equivalent combinations of training and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • A track record of delivery within a logistics function (over the past 5+ years) that has led to performance improvement e.g., cost reduction, process/service enhancements, innovation, winning work, etc.
  • Manufacturing and/or construction industry experience preferred.
  • Personal commitment to promoting a sustainable approach to logistic procurement and supply chain development.

Training:

Certification in Logistics.
  • OSHA 10 and/or 30 hour desired.
  • First Aid/ CPR certification desired.
  • Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Intermediate skill in MS Office suite of products – Word, Excel, etc.  

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Advanced technical knowledge of logistics principles, processes and methods.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices in construction safety and operations, and the ability to foster a culture of efficient execution and safety excellence.
  • Strong ability to lead and influence. Can achieve team results through effective motivational techniques, fostering excellent professional relationships, etc.
  • Ability to facilitate strong collaboration within a multi-function team environment.
  • Capable of producing team results in a fast-paced and flexible work environment. Must possess the ability to adapt to changing priorities and lead a team under the same circumstances.
  • Business acumen, combined with analytical thinking, resulting in the ability to successfully manage the company’s opportunities, risk, profitability, volume, etc.
  • Keen attention to detail and proven ability to consistently follow through.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely – verbal and written.

Physical and/or travel demands:  
  • Work will be done in a combination of environments; includes an office setting, job sites, manufacturing floor, external meetings, etc.
  • Regular local driving to job sites is required - occasional travel to other regional offices and customer locations (involving overnight stays) will be required.
  • This position requires frequent sitting, use of keyboard/monitor, and telephone. Some standing required, with very infrequent reaching, stooping, and pulling/lifting required.

Benefits and Compensation:
  • The range for this position has been established at $43.50 - $61.50 and is US Engineering Innovations’ good faith and reasonable estimate at the time of the posting. The compensation offered to the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
  • Your total compensation will go beyond the number on your paycheck. Team members are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance as well as paid time off.
