Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person work at North Campus Edmonton.

The Department of Family Medicine at the University of Alberta is seeking an energetic, outgoing, and highly organized Operations & Events Coordinator to elevate our event execution, departmental marketing, and community engagement. Reporting to the Operations Lead, this dynamic role combines event logistics with strategic communications to showcase our achievements in healthcare education, research, and clinical practice.

  • 2-3 years in a role that combines physical event logistics with digital communications. 
    Proven experience in end-to-end event planning across physical and digital formats.

  • Exceptional organizational skills, high attention to detail, and proactive initiative.
  • A background combining administrative operations with communications, marketing, or community relations.

What You'll Do

  • Event Planning & Event Engagement (50%): Plan, promote, and execute seamless in-person, virtual, and hybrid events, including department retreats, conferences, recruitment activities, and community outreach. Logistics & Coordination: Manage full event lifecycles, including scheduling, vendor outreach, AV/technology preparation, and venue setup.
  • Communications & Social Media (40%): Serve as the department's primary point of contact for public presence, keeping all communications and promotional materials strictly aligned with University of Alberta brand standards. Relationship & Content Building: Collaborate directly with faculty, staff, learners, and external health partners to identify, draft, and spotlight departmental achievements.
  • General Operations Support (10%): Maintains departmental events calendar and supports planning activities for communications and engagement initiatives. Maintains resource inventory and provides general administrative support to event stakeholders.
