Summary:
The Fumigation Operations Specialist is responsible for supporting and executing regulated fumigation treatment operations for dry and refrigerated ocean containers within a warehouse and distribution environment. This position operates under the supervision of USDA officers and is responsible for ensuring fumigation treatments are completed safely, accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and company requirements.
The Fumigation Operations Specialist will oversee fumigation preparation activities, treatment execution, operational documentation, and coordination of tent crew personnel responsible for setup and removal of fumigation equipment and materials. This role works closely with USDA officials, MB Q gas vendors, warehouse operations, and internal leadership to support compliant fumigation treatment processes utilizing approved fumigation methodologies, including tarp and PCD (fumigations without tarpaulin) treatments.
This is a safety-sensitive, non-exempt hourly position operating in both indoor and outdoor environments.
What You'll Do:
  • Perform fumigation treatment operations for dry and refrigerated ocean containers utilizing MB Q gas under USDA supervision.
  • Execute fumigation treatments in accordance with USDA Treatment Manuals, operational procedures, company policies, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee and coordinate tent crew personnel responsible for setup, breakdown, and handling of fumigation-related equipment and materials.
  • Support fumigation operations utilizing tarp and PCD (fumigations without tarpaulin) treatment methodologies.
  • Stage and prepare ocean containers for fumigation treatment operations.
  • Ensure fumigation equipment, tarps, gas lines, monitoring devices, and related materials are properly utilized, maintained, and stored.
  • Ensure accurate completion and maintenance of CMS documentation, release documentation, EAN information, treatment records, and operational logs.
  • Coordinate closely with MB Q gas vendors and external service providers to support operational continuity and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor treatment timelines, release procedures, and operational activities to ensure compliance and efficiency standards are met.
  • Ensure all fumigation activities are performed safely and in accordance with OSHA standards, hazardous material handling requirements, and company safety procedures.
  • Maintain active SPID Card certification and ensure compliance with all credentialing and identification requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with USDA officers, warehouse leadership, operations personnel, and external partners regarding treatment schedules and operational status.
  • Assist with audits, inspections, investigations, and compliance reviews as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
  • Follow all company policies, operational procedures, environmental standards, and safety requirements.
  • Perform additional duties and operational support tasks as assigned.
  • Completion of required fumigation, hazardous materials, respiratory protection, and emergency response training.

What You'll Bring:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Active SPID Card certification required.
  • Experience in fumigation, pesticide application, or other regulated chemical operations, agricultural treatment, warehouse operations, logistics, port operations.
  • Knowledge of USDA fumigation treatment procedures and regulatory requirements strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of hazardous material handling, chemical safety, and operational compliance procedures preferred.
  • Ability to interpret operational documents, treatment records, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced operational environments with changing priorities and schedules.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate operational crews while maintaining safety and compliance standards.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Responsible for maintaining exclusion zones, controlling access to fumigation areas, and exercising stop-work authority when safety concerns arise.
  • Responding to fumigant releases, exposure incidents, or other emergencies in accordance with site procedures.
  • Basic computer and operational documentation management skills preferred.
  • Ability to lift, move, and handle operational equipment and materials in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Ability to safely utilize, wear, and operate required PPE, SCBA equipment and all required respiratory protection devices in accordance with OSHA standards, company policy, and fumigation safety procedures.
  • Must be able to successfully complete respiratory medical evaluations, respirator fit testing, and required hazardous material safety training.
  • Employees are required to utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all respiratory protection, hazardous material handling, and workplace safety procedures.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, overtime, weekends, and holidays based on operational needs.
