Position Purpose

We are seeking a highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented Logistics Manager. The Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing end-to-end transportation and distribution of bulk liquid sulfuric acid and potassium hydroxide products across trucking, rail, and barge modes. NEXPERA ships 2 million tons per year of products to customers exceeding 30,000 truck shipments, 7,500 rail shipments, and 800 barge movements. This role ensures safe, compliant, efficient, and cost effective movement of materials while leading day to day operations, carrier management, and strategic logistics optimization. The manager will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, third party carriers, terminals, customers, and suppliers to maintain service levels and support business growth and flexibility.


Primary Duties/Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  1. Oversee daily scheduling, dispatching, and execution of bulk liquid shipments via truck and rail.
  2. Coordinate product flow across terminals, storage facilities, and production sites to meet demand requirements. Support limited import/export activities for some high-value products and LTL moves of key equipment and product samples
  3. Manage railcar fleet planning, cycle times, maintenance coordination, and tracking.
  4. Ensure proper loading, unloading, and handling processes in compliance with DOT, FRA, USCG, and industry safety standards.
  5. Monitor carrier performance and transportation KPIs (on time delivery, asset utilization, dwell time/detention/demurrage, freight spend, etc.).
  6. Maintain rates, approve invoices, and resolve issues in a 3rd party, web-based freight payment system.
  7. Select, contract, and manage bulk liquid trucking carriers, railroad movements, and third party logistics partners.
  8. Conduct business reviews, negotiate rates, and optimize modal mix to reduce cost and improve service. Seek and deliver cost savings.
  9. Maintain strong external relationships to ensure capacity availability, quality service, and operational reliability.
  10. Ensure all transportation operations adhere to federal, state, and local regulatory requirements related to hazardous materials, environmental compliance, and bulk liquid handling.
  11. Partner with NEXPERA EHS and Supply Chain teams to drive safe operations and incident prevention strategies.
  12. Lead investigation and corrective actions for transportation incidents, near misses, or service failures.
  13. Develop and execute logistics strategies that improve cost, service, safety, and sustainability.
  14. Analyze logistics data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  15. Lead or support network optimization initiatives including terminal utilization, proactively adjusting to plant operating issues, and fleet management improvements.
  16. Support budgeting and forecasting of logistics costs and capital needs.
  17. Lead and develop a logistics operations network (plant loading & shipping, carriers, and HSE).
  18. Collaborate with Supply Chain, Procurement, Manufacturing, Commercial, and Finance teams to support business objectives.
  19. Communicate operational updates and performance metrics to leadership.



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of logistics, transportation, or supply chain experience, with at least 3 years in bulk liquids or hazardous materials.
  • Experience managing truck and/or rail operations.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements (DOT/FMCSA, FRA, USCG, PHMSA, EPA).
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage vendors, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills.
  • Solid expertise using Microsoft Office and SAP S/4 HANA applications
  • Experience with rail fleet management (leased or owned).
  • Background in chemicals, petroleum, agriculture, or other bulk liquid industries.
  • Proficiency with TMS systems, rail tracking platforms, and ERP tools.
  • Lean Six Sigma or similar continuous improvement certification.
  • Must be willing to travel.
