We are a thriving, community-focused financial institution with approximately $450 million in assets. We are seeking an adaptable, hands-on Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Back-Office Banking Operations. In a community bank environment, efficiency and versatility are key.
We are looking for someone to aid in our daily operations and help lead a small team in customer service. This person will be vital to the smooth operation of the bank. Adaptability and the ability to multi-task are key.
Core Responsibilities
- Daily Workflow Management: Supervise and actively assist with daily back-office functions, including ACH processing, domestic wire transfers, check clearing, and mobile deposit capture.
- Reconciliation & Balancing: Oversee daily general ledger (GL) reconciliations, manage suspense accounts, and research/resolve complex transaction exceptions or balancing errors.
- Team Leadership & Backup: Manage a small, cross-trained operations team. Provide direct backup for critical processing tasks during staff absences or high-volume periods.
- Compliance & Audit Readiness: Maintain strict internal controls to prevent fraud. Ensure full compliance with Reg CC, Reg E, NACHA rules, and BSA/AML guidelines. Gather data and documentation for internal, state, and federal regulatory audits.
- Vendor Management: Monitor service level agreements (SLAs) with core processors, card networks, and third-party operational vendors.
- Jack Henry CIF 20/20 previous experience a plus.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of operations experience in a community bank or credit union, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
- Community Bank Agility: Proven ability to manage multiple operational disciplines simultaneously and pivot quickly between management tasks and administrative processing.
- Technical Skills: Experience using standard community bank core platforms (Jack Henry CIF 20/20 or Silverlake a plus) and online banking administrative tools.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot system errors, balancing discrepancies, and customer transaction disputes.
- Regulatory Literacy: Strong working knowledge of community bank regulatory requirements, federal compliance rules, and deposit operations guidelines.
