The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Neurological Surgery has an exciting opportunity for a full time, hybrid Business Process & Operations Analyst 1 to work in Miami, FL. The Business Process & Operations Analyst 1 provides planning, project management, data analytics and operational support for system wide operational initiatives. Key responsibilities of this role include data analytics, creation of materials/content for executive leadership and overall communications support. This job assists in the development and evaluation of strategic and operational plans and evaluates programs for conformance to the overall goals and objectives of the organization.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Performs data analysis using various techniques, e.g. statistical analysis, explanatory and predictive modeling, data mining.
  • Supports and contributes to business analytics projects and processes to provide data-driven insights related to business performance used to advise and develop strategies for operational improvements and future business initiatives.
  • Uses statistical methods, modeling, analytical methodologies, and data analysis to develop and deploy tools including dashboards, infographics, reports, and models to inform and support decision-making.
  • Mines, processes, and analyzes internal and external data using KPIs, business results, industry sources, competitor intelligence, and customer information.
  • Develops a good understanding of the business's model, objectives, issues, and challenges by interacting and collaborating with users and stakeholders. 6. Assesses and documents business requirements, makes priority recommendations, and advises on business options, risks, and costs.
  • Produces reports and visualizations that provide easy to understand information required for decision making.
  • Researches, analyzes, and recommends changes to business processes to improve operational efficiencies, quality, service, and profitability.
  • Collects and studies operational and performance data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develops process documentation and project plans. Creates flowcharts, process maps, and diagrams.
  • Supports cross-functional activities and working sessions during projects' design and implementation phases. Designs and prepares documentation, training materials, and communications supporting new processes.
  • Facilitates or assist with the delivery of training to impacted business units.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Department Specific Job Functions
  • The business process & operations analyst position will support the financial, operational and strategic functions of the Department of Neurosurgery
  • Statistical analysis, comfort with predictive modeling not required for the departmental role
  • Excels in data management, analysis and visualization of clinical and financial data, including patient visit level, billing and utilization data
  • Innovative data assessment and reporting, including dashboard development, for surgical volume analytics in the department; development of sub-specialty reporting that allows budgetary planning and earlier assessment of where actions plans may be needed
  • Management of performance for institutional KPIs including provider productivity, quality measure, revenue indicators and documentation compliance; partner directly with providers as needed to meet the department's annual goals
  • Resourceful in learning new systems and functionalities, including ad-hoc report building and management of work queues within the Electronic Health Record and Business Intelligence systems
  • Performs administrative duties including expense reimbursement preparation, on-call schedule preparation, meeting preparation
  • Assessment and distribution of key data points including patient experience data, compliance with national quality programs
  • Distribution of provider reports for compliance on encounter completion and closing of in-basket messages
  • Assist with department Purchase Orders, invoices, and check deposit forms
  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of innovation
  • Additional duties assigned as needed
  • Prior work in healthcare a plus
