Job description

Role Overview

Hyundai MOBIS is seeking a highly motivated ESG Strategy & Sustainability Assistant Manager to lead environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives. This role is critical in advancing the company's carbon neutrality roadmap, managing ESG disclosures, and integrating sustainable practices across operations and supply chains.

This position also plays a key role in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, financial tracking, and contract management, supporting overall ESG performance and organizational compliance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (To perform within this position successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.)

ESG Strategy & Carbon Neutrality

  • Develop and implement mid- to long-term ESG strategies aligned with corporate sustainability goals
  • Integrate ESG principles across operations and business functions
  • Lead carbon neutrality initiatives, including:
    • Managing carbon neutrality roadmap
    • Supporting RE100 implementation
    • Conducting GHG emissions analysis (domestic and global)
    • Responding to ETS and environmental regulations
    • Preparing carbon-related disclosures and reports
    • Conducting Life Cycle Assessments (LCA)

ESG Reporting, Compliance

  • Prepare ESG reports aligned with global frameworks (GRI, SASB, TCFD, CSRD)
  • Develop and monitor ESG KPIs and performance metrics
  • Ensure compliance with ESG-related regulations and standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align CSR efforts with ESG objectives
    • Supporting ESG evaluations and environmental disclosures

CSR Management

  • Coordinate, manage, and track Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs and initiatives
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for local community organizations, educational institutions, and external partners
  • Plan, organize, and execute community engagement and CSR activities aligned with Hyundai Mobis values
  • Support the communication and timely resolution of community-related concerns in a professional manner
  • Represent the company at community meetings, events, and outreach programs
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders, including local communities, environmental organizations, and regulatory bodies, to enhance sustainability efforts
  • Monitor CSR performance metrics and support internal and external reporting requirements

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with internal teams (executives, departments, HQ Korea) and external stakeholders (Hyundai Motor Group affiliates, ESG rating agencies, NGOs)
  • Represent the organization in ESG and CSR forums, working groups, and industry events

ESG/CSR Risk Management & Governance

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate ESG-related risks
  • Support development of ESG governance structures, policies, and procedures
  • Report ESG priorities and updates, including CSR initiatives, to leadership

Sustainable Operations & Supply Chain

  • Promote sustainability initiatives across operations and supply chain
  • Support carbon reduction, circular economy, and social impact programs
  • Partner with procurement and finance teams to integrate ESG into business decisions

Financial & Contract Management

  • Manage ESG- and CSR-related vendor invoices, including tracking, validation, and submission for payment
  • Monitor budgets supporting sustainability and CSR initiatives
  • Support contract lifecycle management, including tracking, renewals, and compliance
  • Coordinate with procurement and legal teams on ESG-related vendor agreements and contracts

This role operates within defined corporate policies and procedures and exercises judgment appropriate to its level of responsibility. The position may influence decisions related to functional operations, processes, or recommendations and escalate matters as required

Education & Experience

  • Business Administration, Public Administration, Management, International Relations, Environmental Studies, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in ESG, sustainability, or environmental management
  • Experience with ESG reporting frameworks (GRI, SASB, TCFD, RE100)

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Experience with ESG data analysis, carbon accounting, and risk assessments
  • Familiarity with ESG rating agencies (MSCI, EcoVadis, DJSI, RE100, Conflict Minerals)
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability standards
  • Experience managing CSR programs and tracking performance metrics
  • Understanding of vendor management, invoice processing, and contract administration
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Understanding of automotive or industrial manufacturing environments

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Knowledge of ESG concepts, regulatory compliance, or manufacturing environments is an advantage
  • Korean and English bilingual capability is desired
  • Understanding of Korean corporate culture and reporting structures a plus
