We’re looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to grow our Accounting Team in Ledyard, CT. This position is fulltime in the office. Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and process monthly invoices for government customers, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and yearend accounting close activities, including account reconciliations and financial reporting.
  • Process, reconcile, and maintain corporate credit card transactions and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze accounting records, financial reports, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), company policies, and government contract requirements.
  • Review the work of team members to verify accuracy, identify discrepancies, and ensure compliance with established accounting procedures and internal controls.
  • Crosstrain to provide backup support for critical accounting functions, including Accounts Payable and Payroll.
  • Develop, maintain, and update process documentation and standard operating procedures to support operational consistency and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to resolve accounting issues, improve processes, and support organizational objectives.
  • Perform other accounting and financerelated duties as assigned.
  • Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of accounting experience with demonstrated knowledge of a variety of accounting functions and processes.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, including debits, credits, and general ledger functions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn and utilize accounting and projectbased financial systems; experience with Costpoint, Unanet, or similar software is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively in a fastpaced environment.
  • Strong commitment to providing responsive and professional service to both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with the highest level of discretion and professionalism.
  • Flexibility and willingness to take on new projects and support team initiatives as business needs evolve.
