Join our team at Health Services Consultants as our Accounting/Payroll Manager! (*Hybrid opportunity)

Since 1986, our family-owned company has managed neighborhood, residential homes for adults with developmental disabilities. As the Accounting/Payroll Manager you will oversee daily accounting operations, with primary responsibility for processing biweekly payroll and month-end/quarter-end close activities. This role ensures accurate records, strong internal controls, and timely reporting, as well as supervising transactional accounting staff under the direction of the CFO. *Hybrid role based in Champaign, IL, involving a mix of on-site and remote work.

Job duties include:

  • Payroll processing (Primary Responsibility)
  • Monthly, quarterly, and year-end close
  • Supervise and support AP, AR, and Purchasing staff
  • Internal controls, compliance, and documentation
  • Collaboration and reporting
  • Leadership functions and other duties as assigned, in support of the Finance team

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Hands-on experience processing payroll, payroll systems, and Excel
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, payroll accounting and accruals, and balance sheet reconciliation
  • Experience with month-end/quarter-end close ownership
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance preferred or equivalent experience required
  • Experience supervising or leading accounting staff preferred
  • Familiarity with ERP systems preferred
  • Valid, unexpired driver's license preferred
  • Hybrid role based in Champaign, IL, involving a mix of on-site and remote work.
