Sr. Staff Accountant
Department: Finance
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: Milan, IL (4905)
Reporting To: Chad Gustafson
Compensation: $58,000 - $70,000 / year
Description
As a Sr. Staff Accountant, you will oversee financial operations, including planning, reporting, budgeting, and month-end close processes of assigned business units and or customers. Responsibilities include maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, assisting in audits and tax compliance, and driving process improvements.
The ideal candidate would have analytical skills, diligence, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a demanding environment. Additionally, they should have proficiency in accounting software, and an initiative-taking mindset towards process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
  • Manage the month-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the development of annual budgets and long-term financial forecasts.
  • Develop ad hoc reports as requested by customer and or operations.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and quarterly reviews.
  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, including chart of accounts and accounting policies.
  • Work with operations in analyzing performance including reviewing client related sales and expenses and comparing performance to budget.
  • Review and reconcile labor including tracking and reporting labor costs associated to respective jobs.
  • Review and analyze tax assessments for assigned operations providing client facing relevant tax reporting on monthly, quarterly, annual basis as required; Prepare and file sales/use tax reporting when indicated.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices within the accounting function.
  • Support special projects and initiatives as assigned by management.

Job Qualifications
Education/Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent experience.

Experience:
  • 3+ years of experience in accounting or related field.

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suites, with a particular emphasis on Excel.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
  • Ability to learn and work with ERP Software
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a demanding environment.
