We're Hiring! Manager, Payroll Tax & Accounting
Greenville, SC or Shelton, CT | Hybrid Work
Are you a payroll tax and accounting expert ready to make an impact in a dynamic, growing organization? Hubbell is looking for a Manager, Payroll Tax and Accounting to lead critical payroll accounting operations, support M&A integrations, and partner closely with internal teams and our managed services provider.
In this role, you'll be the go-to subject matter expert for payroll tax, G/L, workers' comp, escheatment, and multijurisdictional reporting. Every day brings variety-reconciling payroll data, supporting audits, driving process improvements, and ensuring accurate and timely reporting across the enterprise.
The Manager, Payroll Tax and Accountingis responsible for all payroll accounting activities performed within the Payroll Operations Team, including mergers and acquisitions. This role will support the Manager, Payroll Systems and Projects to ensure the payroll accounting for all respective business groups are met. The Payroll Accountant produces reports, meets with internal stakeholders, and reconciles payroll-related G/L Accounts. This role also partners with the Managed Services provider to ensure all pay-related tax data is received, verified and reconciled. This also includes reviewing pay schedules, producing standard or custom reports, applying for new accounts, and producing ad- hoc queries. The Payroll Accountant ensures that all tax reporting and filings (including locals), Workers' Comp., escheatment and related analyses are completed and accurate within all required deadlines.

A Day In The Life
Every day at Hubbell is different and you'll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you'll make a difference by:
  • Subject Matter Expert for Payroll Tax, G/L, Workers' Comp., and Escheatment
  • Perform payroll tax and G/L reconciliations timely and accurately
  • Oversee Tax Support and Administration, working with the Managed Services provider to ensure all payroll tax is reported accurately and timely; troubleshoot as needed.
  • Comply with audit requirements, internal control standards, and company polices; provide accurate supporting documentation as needed
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to define reporting needs and troubleshoot any reporting/data issues and ensure proper posting of all GL files.
  • Generate payroll-related reports for the enterprise and for specific business groups; and identify and propose improvements.
  • Produce multijurisdictional monthly, quarterly, or annual reporting as required; stay abreast of, inform to implement any regulatory and/or legislative tax changes.
  • Work with Treasury to execute payroll funding and escheatment.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate G/L integration of Payroll for all newly acquired and or merging business.
  • Provide excellent customer service and support to all Functional Leads, External Vendors and Customers.
  • Ensure Confidentiality, Data Privacy, Data Security and SOX requirements are met at all times.
  • Other special projects as necessary

What will help you thrive in this role?
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or other related discipline preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years payroll accounting, auditing and/or related experience in a large ($1B+), multi-national, multi-legal entity corporation
  • 3+ years utilizing payroll systems to create, analyze and troubleshoot data
  • Familiarity with SAP Financials, ADP GlobalView, and SuccessFactors HR preferred.
  • Payroll M&A Experience (G/L Integration; Payroll Tax Set-Up and Reconciliation)
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) Preferred
  • Advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail a must.
  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to prioritize and multitask; must be able to balance competing priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understand the end-to-end process of payroll.
  • Ability to research, understand and apply federal, state and local regulations relating to payroll, labor, and employment tax laws, and the implications for reporting.
