SQL Database Administrator (Remote, U.S. Citizens Only)
About the Role
Join a forward-thinking technology team as a SQL Database Administrator, where your expertise will directly impact database performance, security, and reliability. This is a fully remote, long-term contract (12+ months) ideal for candidates eager to tackle complex challenges, collaborate with top-tier professionals, and advance their careers in a supportive and dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain SQL databases to ensure optimal performance and high availability
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve database-related issues swiftly and efficiently
- Execute routine maintenance, upgrades, backups, and recovery operations
- Write, review, and optimize SQL queries within applications for maximum efficiency
- Analyze server resource usage to identify and implement performance improvements
- Develop and update comprehensive documentation and technical specifications
- Oversee database migrations, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal downtime
- Collaborate closely with technical teams and stakeholders to address evolving database needs
Required Skills and Experience
- 5+ years of hands-on experience as a SQL Database Administrator
- Expertise in troubleshooting and resolving user-reported database issues
- Proficiency in SQL query optimization and relational database systems
- Solid understanding of database design principles and security best practices
- Experience with backup, recovery, and routine maintenance processes
- Familiarity with configuring and managing database engines and clusters
- Strong skills in performance monitoring, profiling tools, and database upgrades
- Effective communicator with the ability to document and explain technical details clearly
- Experience with version control tools such as GitLab
- Knowledge of SSIS package development and management
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to advanced clustering and high-availability solutions
- Experience with automation of routine DBA tasks
- Familiarity with cloud-based database environments
