Job description
This position is employed by TDX Power, LLC. TDX Corporation is providing recruiting and administrative support to TDX Power under a transitional services arrangement.
JOB SUMMARY
The Journeyman Lineman - Remote Operations is an Anchorage-based traveling position responsible for supporting the safe, reliable operation and maintenance of TDX Power electrical distribution systems at remote operating locations throughout Alaska. Anchorage serves as the employee's home base for administrative and travel purposes; field work is performed at TDX Power's remote operating locations. The position travels to company operating locations on a planned rotational schedule to perform inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, system improvements, outage restoration, and capital project support. Travel outside the normal rotation may be required in response to outages, emergencies, projects, or other operational needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Travel to and work at TDX Power remote operating locations throughout Alaska on a planned rotational schedule, with schedules and locations established based on operational priorities, system conditions, projects, and other business needs.
- Respond to outages, emergencies, and other operational needs at remote locations, including travel outside the regularly planned rotation when required.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and construct overhead and underground electrical distribution systems, including conductors, transformers, switches, capacitors, cutouts, poles, structures, guying, grounding, cable systems, risers, and associated equipment.
- Maintain and repair underground distribution equipment and facilities, including switches, transformers, concrete foundations, ducts, direct-buried cable, cable risers, splices, terminations, and associated structures.
- Climb poles and structures and use bucket trucks or other approved methods to perform line work using proper climbing practices, fall protection, and safety procedures.
- Conduct systematic inspections of distribution assets and identify, document, prioritize, and correct deficiencies based on safety, reliability, condition, and operational risk.
- Support and perform recurring preventive maintenance and multi-year distribution inspection programs across remote operating locations.
- Support vegetation management activities affecting distribution facilities and identify vegetation-related reliability and safety risks.
- Perform installation, construction, upgrades, and modifications for new services, distribution extensions, system improvements, and capital projects.
- Perform electrical work associated with customer services within the scope of the employee's qualifications, including meter bases and residential or commercial service equipment as required.
- Perform line locates and inspect customer-installed services or other electrical installations when required.
- Analyze circuits, wiring diagrams, system drawings, and schematics to install, troubleshoot, repair, test, service, or replace electrical components and systems.
- Operate bucket trucks, loaders, forklifts, trucks, and other vehicles or heavy equipment necessary to safely perform assigned work.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, system changes, asset conditions, material usage, and outstanding deficiencies, and provide required documentation following field work.
- Identify and recommend system upgrades, repairs, reliability improvements, and opportunities to standardize distribution maintenance practices across operating locations.
- Assist with development of scopes of work, material requirements, project planning, inventory needs, and maintenance priorities for distribution work.
- Provide technical assistance and hands-on training or mentoring to local operations personnel within the employee's qualifications and experience.
- Provide technical direction, wiring diagrams, specifications, and instructions during scheduled and emergency repairs, installations, and electrical work as appropriate.
- Start up, isolate, de-energize, ground, and return equipment to service in accordance with company switching, lockout/tagout, safety procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Perform all work in accordance with the National Electrical Safety Code, OSHA requirements, company safety programs, and other applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Independently diagnose and solve practical electrical and distribution-system problems, including during outages and other time-sensitive operating conditions.
- Assist remote power plant personnel with electrical or related maintenance of plant facilities, equipment, and vehicles when operationally necessary and secondary to primary line responsibilities.
- Interact professionally with customers, contractors, community representatives, and other stakeholders encountered while performing field work.
- Comply with all required environmental, health, safety, and security programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Current State of Alaska Journeyman Lineman Certificate of Fitness, or ability to obtain and maintain the required Alaska credential before performing work requiring that certification.
- Demonstrated journeyman-level experience constructing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing overhead and underground electric distribution systems, with experience working independently strongly preferred.
- Valid driver's license in good standing; Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required or ability to obtain within a company-established timeframe.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, schematics, symbols, and terminology used in utility distribution systems.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively to remote Alaska operating locations and work extended rotations or schedules, including outdoors in severe or adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to work independently at remote locations with limited onsite technical support and to exercise sound judgment in safety-critical situations.
- Experience working in remote Alaska or similarly isolated operating environments strongly preferred.
- Qualified or able to become qualified to operate bucket trucks, forklifts, loaders, and other equipment required for assigned work.
- Working knowledge of diesel power generation and power plant electrical systems preferred.
HAZWOPER or other relevant emergency-response certification preferred. - Ability to manage multiple assignments, projects, priorities, and working relationships across multiple operating locations.
- Ability to satisfy company background investigation, drug screening, site-access, and security requirements as applicable.

PHYSICAL AND WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
- Work is primarily performed at remote operating locations and may involve prolonged outdoor work in cold, wind, snow, rain, darkness, uneven terrain, and other adverse conditions.
- Must be able to climb poles and structures, work at heights, work beneath or around equipment, and work in confined or restricted spaces when required.
- Must be able to perform the physical duties customarily associated with journeyman line work, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Remote assignments may require extended stays away from Anchorage and may involve travel by commercial aircraft, small aircraft, vehicle, or other transportation appropriate to the location.
