How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact.  The HVAC Segment is experiencing growth, both organic and inorganic and the operations team is looking for a project manager to support the increased investment and activity.

Reporting into the VP, Operations in HVAC Segment, this position will be crucial for the success of our operations to support growth and expand margins for the business.  The Operations Project Manager plays a central role in driving operational efficiency, coordinating crossfunctional initiatives, and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. This position blends strategic planning with handson execution, making it ideal for someone who thrives in fastmoving environments and enjoys solving complex operational challenges.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

Project Management

  • Lead endtoend planning, execution, and delivery of operational projects across multiple teams.
  • Define project scope, goals, deliverables, timelines, and resource needs.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, dashboards, and documentation.
  • Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Maintain project plans for communication with teams and across organization

Operational Excellence

  • Analyze current processes and identify opportunities for improvement or automation.
  • Implement standardized workflows, SOPs, and best practices to enhance efficiency.
  • Track operational KPIs and provide insights to leadership.
  • Support change management efforts to ensure smooth adoption of new processes or tools.

CrossFunctional Collaboration

  • Serve as the primary liaison between operations, finance, HR, IT, and other departments.
  • Facilitate meetings, workshops, and status updates to ensure alignment.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and external partners when required.

Resource & Budget Management

  • Assist in forecasting project budgets and resource allocation.
  • Monitor expenditures and ensure projects stay within approved budgets.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for leadership and stakeholders.

What we are looking for (Required/Ideal Experience, Skills, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience & Skills

  • 7-10 years of experience in operations, project management, or continuous improvement roles.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles and the ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., Asana, Jira, Smartsheet, MS Project).
  • Proven knowledge of process improvement methodologies, including CI practices, Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, with ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and effectively implement changes
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-function teams at all levels (production to management) and present data and recommendations verbally and in written form to management

Preferred

  • PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or similar certification.
  • Experience in a fastpaced or highgrowth environment.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, Tableau, minitab).

Ideal Experience & Skills

  • Knowledge of manufacturing equipment and processes related to HVAC and heating systems
  • Experience in operations start-ups or acquisition integration (ideal skills)
  • Experience with design for manufacturing methods
  • Familiarity with supply chain
  • Familiarity with MRP planning and production scheduling techniques
