The Manager, Operational Excellence is responsible for driving continuous improvement across manufacturing and supply chain operations at the Summit West facility. This role partners closely with site-wide customers to build lean capability, solve problems at the root, and sustain a culture of daily improvement. The Manager will coach frontline teams and functional partners through structured problem solving, tier management, and lean tools - supporting the site's operational performance while maintaining quality, safety, and compliance standards.

The Manager, Operational Excellence will require knowledge and experience with the Toyota Production System including most of the key lean tools and will be responsible to drive the execution of the Site Operational Excellence Roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as an internal CI coach and partner to site-wide customers across manufacturing, supply chain, and support functions.
  • Facilitate and coach A3 problem solving at all levels of the organization, from frontline teams to functional leads.
  • Support the development and maturation of tier management systems across the site, coaching teams to use tiered huddles for real-time problem identification and escalation rather than status reporting.
  • Deploy and sustain 5S systems and visual management tools; support the Yellow Belt program to build lean capability at the frontline.
  • Design and facilitate kaizen events and workshops, including gemba-based process documentation and future state design.
  • Drive TAT improvements and waste elimination across key value streams in support of performance improvement.
  • Support operations and quality improvement initiatives using core OpEx and Green Belt methodologies.
  • Develop and maintain capacity models and workforce utilization analyses to proactively identify resource needs.
  • Utilize business intelligence tools and data analytics to track KPIs and support decision making.
  • Support inspection readiness activities and contribute during regulatory inspections; ensure compliant cGMP operations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree of Engineering/Business/ Science or related discipline.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt /Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from an accredited institution preferred
  • Lean Silver Certification or Shingo Graduate preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of Operational Excellence experience in the Biotech/pharmaceutical industry

Compensation Overview:

Summit West - NJ - US: $106,810 - $129,430

The starting pay range(s) listed above is for full-time employees (FTE). You may also be eligible for additional discretionary incentive cash and stock opportunities. We determine starting pay thoughtfully - carefully considering the nature of the role, required skills, work location, schedule and the knowledge and experience you bring. Final compensation is guided by pay equity principles and applicable employment laws. Compensation programs are reviewed on an ongoing basis and may be adjusted over time to reflect evolving market factors, and individual, team or Company performance.

Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans then in effect, you may be eligible to participate in our comprehensive benefit plans - including wellbeing support, retirement and financial protection benefits, and insurance offerings (medical, dental, vision, life and disability).


U.S.-based exempt employees are eligible for Flexible Time Off (FTO), which provides paid time off without a set accrual limit, subject to manager approval, along with 11 paid company holidays each year.


Non-exempt employees, RayzeBio employees, and employees located in Puerto Rico receive 160 hours of paid vacation annually for new hires (subject to manager approval), 11 paid company holidays, and 3 optional holidays.


Depending on eligibility, employees may also have access to additional time-off benefits, including paid sick leave, up to two paid volunteer days per year, summer hours flexibility, and leaves of absence for medical, personal, parental, caregiver, bereavement, or military needs. Eligible employees also enjoy an annual Global Shutdown between Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
