Job description

We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead accounting operations and strengthen financial oversight for a growing organization in Houston, Texas. This role is responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, guiding cost accounting activities, and ensuring disciplined month-end close processes. The ideal candidate brings deep manufacturing or operational finance experience, strong command of standard costing and work-in-progress analysis, and the ability to improve document-heavy accounting workflows.
Responsibilities:
• Direct the full accounting cycle, including month-end close activities, account reconciliations, and preparation of timely financial statements.
• Oversee standard cost accounting practices by maintaining cost structures, reviewing variances, and supporting annual standard cost updates.
• Monitor work-in-progress balances and inventory-related transactions to ensure accurate valuation and reporting.
• Manage document control and scanning processes for financial records, keeping files organized, complete, and readily accessible for audit and compliance needs.
• Compile, review, and maintain accounting documentation to support internal reporting, external audits, and operational decision-making.
• Partner with leadership to analyze financial performance, identify trends, and recommend actions that improve cost visibility and control.
• Maintain and enhance accounting processes within NetSuite to support reporting accuracy, consistency, and operational efficiency.
• Establish and enforce internal controls that protect financial data and support compliance with company policies and accounting standards.• 10+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including leadership responsibility in a Controller or senior accounting capacity.
• Strong expertise in month-end close, financial reporting, and general ledger management.
• Hands-on experience with standard cost accounting, annual standard cost reviews, and variance analysis.
• Solid understanding of work-in-progress accounting and inventory valuation in an operational or manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with NetSuite and the ability to use ERP systems to support accurate accounting processes.
• Experience managing document-intensive workflows, including document control, scanning, and records organization.
• Advanced analytical, organizational, and communication skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
