Job description

This is a rare chance to secure a stable, full-time government support role in NE Albuquerque at $19/hour with a contract guaranteed through June 2027. You'll run a quiet, professional front office where your work truly matters to your local community every single day.
The Team You Will be Joining
You will be stepping into a vital role within a specialized state agency team tasked with evaluating medical eligibility for federal public benefit claims. This dedicated division operates at the intersection of healthcare and community support, working under a direct federal partnership to ensure that New Mexico residents living with significant physical or psychological conditions receive the essential financial and employment assistance they qualify for.
Major Duties
Public Relations & Front-Office Security
  • Greet all visitors, clients, and stakeholders with a high degree of professionalism; accurately assess their needs and direct them to the appropriate personnel or resources.
  • Efficiently answer, screen, and route high-volume incoming calls utilizing a multi-line phone system, ensuring minimal wait times and accurate message delivery.
  • Serve as a primary line of defense for office safety by monitoring visitor access, managing sign-in logs, and adhering strictly to agency security protocols.
  • Provide clear, accurate, and compliant general information regarding agency services and procedures to the public.
Comprehensive Administrative & Clerical Support
  • Coordinate distribution of all incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and time-sensitive correspondence.
  • Perform core secretarial functions, including high-volume copying, faxing, scanning, and the assembly/stuffing of bulk mailings.
  • Obtain, organize, and disperse internal documentation to support various departmental workflows.
  • Conduct targeted records inquiries and information verification as assigned by management.
Data Integrity & Systems Handling
  • Execute precise, high-speed data entry and maintain immaculate electronic records within proprietary agency databases.
  • Utilize the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) to generate reports, track data, and draft correspondence.
  • Operate and troubleshoot standard office equipment, including networked computers, high-speed copiers, and digital fax systems.
What Are We Looking For?
Minimum Qualifications
  • Proven track record in office administration, clerical operations, or a fast-paced reception environment.
  • Strong proficiency in computer data entry, information systems management, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrated experience providing elite customer service and communicating effectively with diverse populations, often in sensitive or high-stress situations.
  • Foundational knowledge of modern records management techniques, data privacy, and filing procedures.
  • Compliance: Must be able to successfully pass a rigorous federal background investigation.
Preferred Qualifications
