Position Purpose

The Service Operations Assistant supports the Service Operations Manager in overseeing front-end store operations and delivering an exceptional customer experience. This position assists in supervising front-end associates, maintaining operational efficiency, ensuring compliance with company policies, and supporting service-related initiatives. The Service Operations Assistant helps promote a positive customer-focused environment while ensuring smooth daily operations.

Key Responsibilities Customer Service & Front-End Operations
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and promote a customer-first culture.
  • Assist in overseeing front-end activities, including checkout operations, customer service, and courtesy services.
  • Resolve customer concerns, complaints, and service recovery situations promptly and professionally.
  • Support initiatives that improve customer satisfaction and store service standards.
  • Ensure customers receive timely, accurate, and friendly service throughout their shopping experience.
Team Leadership & Development
  • Assist with supervising, training, coaching, and developing front-end associates.
  • Provide direction and support to cashiers, service desk associates, courtesy clerks, and other front-end team members.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
  • Assist with onboarding and training new associates.
  • Support performance management and recognition initiatives.
  • Serve as a leader on duty when assigned.
Operational Excellence
  • Assist in coordinating front-end staffing and workflow to maximize efficiency and customer service.
  • Monitor checkout lane activity and adjust staffing based on business needs.
  • Support daily operational plans and department objectives.
  • Ensure company service standards and operating procedures are consistently followed.
  • Assist with implementation of company programs, promotions, and operational initiatives.
  • Help ensure store readiness and front-end presentation standards are maintained.
Cash Handling & Financial Controls
  • Support cash accountability procedures and front-end financial controls.
  • Assist with register audits, cash pickups, deposits, and reconciliation activities.
  • Monitor associate compliance with cash handling policies and procedures.
  • Help identify and resolve cash variances and procedural concerns.
  • Maintain accurate records and required operational documentation.
Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures.
  • Monitor front-end activities to ensure adherence to loss prevention practices.
  • Support safety initiatives and help maintain a safe environment for customers and associates.
  • Assist with incident reporting and follow-up activities.
  • Participate in operational audits and compliance reviews as needed.
Service Desk & Store Support Functions
  • Assist with customer service desk operations, including returns, exchanges, refunds, lottery, money services, and store programs where applicable.
  • Support store-wide initiatives and cross-functional operational needs.
  • Provide backup support for front-end and customer service functions during peak business periods.
  • Assist in maintaining service desk accuracy, organization, and compliance.
  • Help support community outreach and customer engagement activities as directed.
