Atlantic.Net is looking for a highly motivated individual with experience and a passion for delivering excellent technical support and great customer service. As a Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the organization's IT infrastructure. This includes virtualization technologies such as VMware, KVM, and Hyper-V, active directory management, as well as Linux administration. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to optimize and maintain our systems, troubleshooting issues, and implement solutions to ensure reliable and efficient operations. This is an onsite, datacenter role, so only apply if you are local to the Orlando, FL area.

Responsibilities:

  • Identity and Access Management: Assist in the administration of Active Directory and/or alternative identity providers (e.g., LDAP, FreeIPA), supporting user account lifecycle management, group policy/ACL management, and integration with security tools.
  • Server Management: Administer and optimize Windows and Linux server environments, performing tasks such as configuration management, performance tuning, security hardening (following established standards), and troubleshooting.
  • Automation & Configuration Management: Develop and maintain automation scripts and contribute to configuration management solutions (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Terraform) to streamline deployments and enforce configuration consistency.
  • Cloud Integration: Assist in the design, implementation, and management of hybrid cloud environments, integrating on-premise infrastructure with cloud services.
  • Monitoring & Alerting: Configure and maintain monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve performance issues and security vulnerabilities.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (development, security, network) to plan and execute system upgrades, migrations, and new project deployments. Clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Create and maintain detailed system documentation, runbooks, and knowledge base articles to facilitate efficient troubleshooting and knowledge transfer.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in a Linux systems administration role.
  • Linux Expertise: Solid understanding of Linux operating systems (e.g., CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian) and core services.
  • Scripting Skills: Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell) for automation tasks.
  • Configuration Management: Familiarity with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Terraform).
  • Networking Fundamentals: Understanding of networking concepts, protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), and services (VPN, firewall).
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Security Awareness: Understanding of security best practices and ability to implement security controls.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Linux+, RHCSA). Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
