Job description

Systems Engineer (Travel Required)

Join an innovative, enterprise-level team supporting mission-critical capital projects. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Systems Engineer to lead the deployment, operation, and maintenance of a large-scale transportation inspection vision system. This role contributes to ongoing system enhancements and future initiatives involving advanced camera technologies and automation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, modify, and implement software applications.

  • Install, support, and maintain software applications and operating systems.

  • Participate in testing activities, including reviews, analysis, and test witnessing.

  • Certify software for quality, reliability, and performance.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and project objectives.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve software and system issues.

  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices.

This is a 12-month contract with strong potential for extension. The role is hybrid with 30 40% travel to sites across the Eastern U.S. Candidates must reside in the Atlanta area. All travel expenses are covered. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a growing enterprise team.

Required Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering with coding responsibilities.

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Mechatronics, Robotics, or Electrical Engineering.

  • Strong foundation in circuits, sensors, and power distribution.

  • Hands-on hardware and field equipment troubleshooting experience.

  • Practical coding skills (Python and/or C++ preferred).

  • Experience with automation, data acquisition, or embedded systems.

  • Understanding of signal integrity and EMI considerations.

  • Ability to support hardware bring-up, wiring, testing, and component-level debugging.

  • Comfortable working both in the field and in code (scopes/meters and utility scripts).

Preferred Skills

  • Military experience.

  • Dual Computer/Electrical Engineering background.

  • Experience supporting or installing inspection portals.
