The Registered Practical Nurse participates in providing peri-operative nursing care in accordance with the job description and competencies for Registered Practical Nurses in the Operating Room at Hamilton Health Sciences Corporation.ย 

1. Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurseย 
2. Graduate of an approved Operating Room Technician programย 
3. Current Certificates in Medication Administration, Enteral Nutrition Via Gastrostomy Tube, Urinary Bladder Catheterization, Transcription of Physicians Orders, Advanced Wound Care and Airway Management, or has completed equivalent community college studiesย 
4. Current Heart and Stroke Foundation course in CPR or equivalentย 
5. Recent (2 years) relevant Operating Room experience in a tertiary care facility - adult and pediatricย 
6. Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and teamwork skillsย 
7. Demonstrates commitment to the principles of professional practiceย 
8. Demonstrates judgment in carrying out his or her role or function and is responsible and accountable for acting on the interpretation of dataย
