Purpose

As a member of the Global Corporate Affairs (GCA) team, the Manager, Strategy and Operating Group Communications, will support in the development and delivery of internal and external communications plans and tactics for the Strategy and Operating (S&O) Group. The ideal candidate will be a strong writer and project manager and have experience supporting executive communications and high-profile business initiatives. This individual will be required to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure enterprise messaging alignment, while managing end-to-end communications for priority initiatives. This position reports to the Director, Strategy and Operating Group Communications and is an individual contributor.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop high-quality communications for executives including town halls, speaking remarks, presentations, employee communications and social media.
  • Support the planning and logistical execution of key internal events, including agenda development, participant briefing and day-of coordination.
  • Plan, develop and manage end-to-end execution of various internal and external communications strategies and tactics for priority business initiatives.
  • Own communications workplans, editorial calendars and channel strategies to ensure timely, coordinated delivery.
  • Identify story-telling opportunities across S&O for internal and external channels.
  • Monitor for and help manage potential reputational issues, including coordinating inbound media requests and developing key messages and issues notes. ย 
  • Build strong partnerships with stakeholders across the S&O group and GCA to ensure enterprise alignment and high-quality communications grounded in best practices.
  • Support the effective organization of the S&O Communications team, including maintaining project trackers, workflows and team planning tools.

  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills
  • Superior organizational and project management skills, with meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and work well independently
  • Proven ability to build and maintain trusted business relationships with senior-level leaders and executives
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment, with an ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to take on tasks outside of core responsibilities
  • An ability to solve problems and navigate complex environments
  • A commitment to curiosity, and professional and personal growth
  • Skilled in the use of various technology tools, including Microsoft Suite (SharePoint, PPT, MS Word, Excel, Teams), O365, and Adobe Creative Suite

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in communications, journalism or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum six (6) years of communications experience in corporate or agency environment.

Working Conditions

  • Work is in an unassigned, highly mobile environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.ย ย 
  • This role requires four days per week in office (Toronto) and additional in-office presence as needed for events, meetings or urgent priorities.
