Description

  Atlanta Center for Reproductive Medicine (ACRM) specializes in the treatment of infertility and other reproductive endocrinology disorders. As one of the largest centers in the metropolitan area treating infertility for 20+ years ACRM has provided care in Advanced Reproductive Technologies (ART), including in-vitro fertilization (IVF), pre-genetic diagnosis (PDG) and egg recipiency.  


The OR Nurse Manager performs the responsibilities of the OR nurse. The manager oversees and maintains OR and monthly medication inventory, maintains patient contact list and follows up with patients following procedures, reviews and updates OR protocols, oversees various new hire, safety and compliance training, maintains training, incident and exposure records. The OR Nurse Manager is responsible for all Quad A reporting and Peer Review for GA Anesthesia. 

Requirements

Administers high quality patient care in pre-op, post-op, scrub, or circulator, as assigned. 

Assesses vital signs, patient status, reviews prior medical history, medications/allergies, and prior surgical procedures. 

Educates patient on surgical procedures, expectations, post-op care, and follow-up. 

Assists physician with procedures

Monitors surgical flow

Maintains schedule 

Assists other team members when needed

Communicates with all OR team members, patients and family members to facilitate timely procedures 

Maintains adequate necessary supplies for surgical procedures

Orders from multiple vendors, maintains records of inventory ordered, and makes all necessary updates 

Checks stock, anticipates needed supplies, places orders, and verifies receipt of supplies

Maintains adequate linen supply by checking stock on hand, and anticipating needs based on scheduling to include patient gowns, bedding, and staff scrubs

Communicates with supplier about needs and issues related with supply, delivery, etc. 

Maintains monthly inventory of medications, checks expiration dates, reports results of inventory to OR management for medication ordering

Provides new hire and annual training to all employees 

Maintains training records and communicates with training needs to management

Acts as practice safety officer

Reviews exposure incidences, maintains documentation, and communicates with employees and management as required

Reviews OSHA guidelines and updates training information at least annually

Responsible for HIPAA compliance and reporting for the OR department

Schedules urology procedures with multiple physicians on and off-site

Coordinates schedules between multiple physicians and locations, adjusts charges, communicates with fellow team members about procedure needs

Communicates with patients about instructions and expectations

Reviews OR protocols and procedures, updates as needed

Writes new protocols and procedures as the needs change in OR and office as requested by Medical Director

Assists with education of staff accordingly to include training clinical staff on sterile technique, instrument cleaning, and sterilization

Maintains patient contact lists and communication with patients following D&C

Performs weekly QC as needed on equipment used in OR


PREREQUISITE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EDUCATION

RN License - active and in good standing

Active BLS certification

Active ACLS certification. 

Effective communication skills, and positive rapport with physicians, fellow nurses, management, and patients

2 plus years' experience in OR staff nursing preferred

Demonstrated ability to multi-task and adjust priorities quickly as needed

Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously

Excellent organizational skills


PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time

Ability to bend, twist, push, pull and grasp as needed for patient care

Ability to easily move around a 25,000 square foot facility

Ability to lift 25 pounds without assistance

Demonstrate a superb work ethic and dedication to quality and patient care

Excellent attention to detail

Self-motivated and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
