President / Chief Operating Officer (Remote) - AkitaBox, Inc.

Rock Oak Capital

Madison, WI โ€ข On-site, Remote

Full-time

Posted 18 days ago

Job description

PRESIDENT / COO
Build the next stage of growth for a market leading facility intelligence platform
Full-Time | Remote | Limited Travel | Reports to the Chief Executive Officer
Please note: Rock Oak Capital Partners is conducting this search on behalf of AkitaBox, one of its portfolio companies. Although the position is posted through Rock Oak's recruiting platform, the President/COO will join AkitaBox and work directly with the AkitaBox leadership team.
About AkitaBox
AkitaBox helps organizations understand what they own, where it is located, what condition it is in, and where to invest next. Our cloud-based facility intelligence platform brings facility condition assessments, mobile data capture, asset and maintenance management, inspections, cost estimation, and capital planning into one connected system.
At the center of the AkitaBox story is what we believe is the leading purpose-built facility condition assessment solution in the market. AkitaBox pairs FCA with innovative, location-aware Capture capabilities-including AI-enabled workflows that help accelerate field data collection and convert observations into structured, actionable facility intelligence. Rather than ending in a static report, that information can remain current as work is completed, assets change and capital priorities evolve.
The growth opportunity is substantial. AkitaBox estimates that approximately 75% of engineering firms still rely on spreadsheets to track facility assets-leaving a large, underserved market for purpose-built digital workflows. AkitaBox supports customers across healthcare, higher education, K-12 education, government, commercial real estate and the AEC market, helping frontline teams manage buildings more effectively while giving executives stronger information for risk management and capital allocation.
The Opportunity
AkitaBox is entering an important next chapter. The company has an established product suite, a specialized market position and the backing of a long-term investment partner. The President/COO will assume broad operating and P&L leadership, partnering with the Chief Executive Officer and Board to convert those strengths into a sharper market story, a more repeatable commercial engine and sustained, profitable growth.
This is a hands-on enterprise leadership role in a dynamic, growth-oriented organization. The successful executive will be equally comfortable setting strategy, engaging directly with customers, coaching leaders, evaluating product priorities and making disciplined resource decisions. The mandate is to apply proven leadership judgment thoughtfully, focus the company on the opportunities that matter most and build the capabilities needed to win.
The opportunity may be especially compelling for a proven growth-stage CEO or general manager, or for an accomplished CRO, commercial or operating executive whose breadth, P&L leadership and strategic judgment demonstrate readiness for enterprise-wide leadership. The role offers meaningful ownership, visibility, impact and upside.
The Ideal Candidate
AkitaBox is looking for a commercially minded, operationally capable builder who understands how to scale a specialized B2B SaaS business through an important stage of growth. The strongest candidate will lean toward go-to-market and operations while bringing the strategic judgment, financial leadership and functional breadth required to lead the entire company. This individual will be a thoughtful listener, an effective mentor and a low-ego leader who is highly driven and people smart.
Required Experience and Capabilities
  • At least 10 years of progressive leadership experience in B2B SaaS, including five or more years in a senior executive, general management or comparable enterprise leadership role.
  • A demonstrated record of driving revenue growth and improving go-to-market execution in a scaling B2B SaaS company, including successful leadership experience at a comparable stage of growth.
  • Experience translating complex products and workflows into a clear, differentiated customer value proposition.
  • Strong product-market judgment, including experience using customer evidence to set priorities and align product investment with commercial opportunity.
  • Full P&L leadership experience, including disciplined capital allocation and direct responsibility for leading a business to profitability.
  • Experience building repeatable operating and commercial disciplines in a scaling SaaS environment and translating strategy into sustained execution.
  • The ability to lead across sales, marketing, product, technology, implementation, customer success and operations with a hands-on, highly collaborative approach.
  • Demonstrated applied use of AI to improve personal and team effectiveness, supported by concrete examples of workflow improvement, adoption, productivity gains or business impact-and sound judgment about accuracy, confidentiality and human oversight.
  • A humble, hungry and people-smart leadership style: low ego, high drive, strong listening skills, personal accountability, emotional intelligence and the ability to mentor leaders and build trust across functions.
  • Excellent communication skills and the executive presence to engage customers, employees, partners, investors and a Board of Directors.

Relevant and Preferred Background
  • Experience in facilities technology or an adjacent market serving building owners, operators or AEC firms-particularly FCA, capital planning, asset management, CMMS, IWMS or EAM-is strongly preferred.
  • Experience selling into healthcare, education, government, commercial real estate or other institutional and multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Leadership experience in a private equity-backed, investor-backed, founder-led or otherwise entrepreneurial company.
  • Experience managing a SaaS business with meaningful onboarding, implementation, professional services or partner-delivered components.
  • A strong enough technical foundation to engage credibly with product and engineering leaders, evaluate tradeoffs and translate platform decisions into commercial and operating priorities.
  • Experience leading complex, cross-functional product and technology initiatives through market launch, customer adoption and measurable business impact.

Why Join AkitaBox?
  • Lead with enterprise-wide impact. Assume broad operating and P&L leadership, partner closely with the Chief Executive Officer and Board, and directly influence the company's strategy, organization and performance.
  • Build on a leading FCA foundation. AkitaBox combines facility condition assessment, innovative AI-enabled Capture, cost analysis and ongoing facility intelligence in a rare, tightly integrated workflow-with continued investment in product innovation and AI-enabled capabilities.
  • Pursue a large, under-digitized market. With an estimated 75% of engineering firms still relying on spreadsheets to track facility assets, AkitaBox has meaningful room to expand adoption and shape how the market works.
  • Work with committed ownership. AkitaBox has the support of a long-term investment partner and is seeking a leader prepared to build value over a multi-year horizon.
  • Join a culture that lives its values. AkitaBox combines high standards and ambitious goals with a collaborative, supportive environment where people genuinely enjoy working together-and make room for fun along the way. The company's values are active expectations for how the team works, makes decisions and treats one another.

Travel
  • This is a full-time, remote leadership position with limited travel expected for customer, team, partner and Board engagement.

Our Core Values
  • We Are One Team
  • Big Ideas, Creative Execution
  • We Prioritize Fun
  • We Continuously Learn
  • Diverse, Equitable and Inclusive
