Lead Operating Engineer - JLLWhat this job involves:

As a Lead Operating Engineer at JLL, you will serve as a critical hands-on leader within the Facilities Department, ensuring operational excellence across all building systems and mechanical operations. This role combines technical expertise with strategic oversight, requiring you to manage vendor relationships, ensure contract compliance, maintain safety standards, and drive financial performance for assigned properties. You'll be responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating, and supervising mechanical operations, maintenance, communications, and critical systems in a dynamic manufacturing/production environment. Your work directly supports our client's operational continuity and safety, contributing to JLL's commitment to delivering world-class facility management while upholding the highest ethical standards.

What your day-to-day will look like:

Collaborate with client contacts to ensure facility needs are met and communicated effectively to vendors while maintaining strong working relationships across all organizational levels

Manage all aspects of asset performance for building systems including fire-life safety, MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing - including HVAC), lighting, and physical security (cameras, access control)

Handle financial accounts for building/s including variance reporting, capital and operating budget compliance, invoice preparation and review to ensure fiscal responsibility

Participate in all safety initiatives in conjunction with JLL and client leadership; support emergency preparedness efforts and help implement safety procedures and building access protocols

Respond to facility-related issues and requests (including emergencies) in a timely manner, and in accordance with identified client SLAs and regulations

Manage inventory, purchase parts and supplies while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, requisitions, government agency and company directives as they relate to building operations

Coordinate facility management visitors/vendors, conduct safety briefings, and provide support and assistance to Operations Manager, Lead Engineers, and other team members across the campus as needed

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma and/or GED with licensing/certification and/or equivalent work experience in Engineering, Facilities Management, Operations, or a related field (some level of trades experience preferred/helpful)

5-7 years of related work experience, with at least some of that time in a production/manufacturing environment preferred (24/7 operations, multiple/varied shifts)

Financial knowledge necessary for understanding budgets, variances and basic reporting as required by client

Experience with vendor relations, building operations/engineering and general facility operations with excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word); experience with work order or facilities software is a plus (specifically Corrigo)

Ability to stand for extended periods of time, carry up to 25+ pounds, and perform bending and lifting of materials as needed

Comfortable working in manufacturing/production-based environment with regular walk-throughs of building and service areas while wearing and using PPE

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with CMMS platforms such as Corrigo or similar work order management systems

Familiarity with emergency response protocols and critical infrastructure management in 24/7 operational environments

Proficiency with generative AI tools (such as JLL GPT, ChatGPT, Copilot, or similar platforms) to enhance work productivity and output quality

Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and take ownership of implementing solutions

Experience managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment while working independently and as part of a broader team

Strong interpersonal skills including ability to build relationships with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders at all organizational levels while demonstrating emotional intelligence and resolving conflict constructively

Work Shift:Monday-Friday, 6:00am-2:30pm, with additional support as needed including nights, weekends, and holidays

Estimated compensation for this position:

73,700.00 - 120,000.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
