About the Role
Medworks is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to support surgical procedures across hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers in the greater Christiansburg, VA, area.
This is a mobile role that involves traveling between local client sites. The Surgical Technologist supports clinical teams by preparing operating rooms, maintaining sterile technique, and assisting during procedures to ensure safe and efficient patient care.
Responsibilities
Pre-Operative
  • Prepare operating rooms with sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment
  • Ensure proper setup for scheduled surgical procedures

Intra-Operative
  • Maintain a sterile field and follow aseptic technique standards
  • Anticipate the surgeon's needs and pass instruments efficiently
  • Operate and monitor specialty surgical equipment, including lasers
  • Support surgical teams to promote efficient workflow and patient safety

Post-Operative
  • Assist with room turnover, cleaning, and restocking
  • Complete documentation and track equipment usage accurately

Required Qualifications
  • Active Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential (NBSTSA or equivalent accredited organization)
  • Knowledge of surgical procedures, instrumentation, and sterile technique
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ year of surgical technologist experience
  • Experience in urology, gynecology, or general surgery

Schedule & Travel
  • Monday-Friday schedule based on surgical case volume
  • Occasional early start times and extended days
  • Participation in an on-call rotation as needed
  • Frequent local travel between healthcare facilities
  • Periodic travel outside the immediate area may be required
  • Reliable transportation required
