Overview

Description

Performs radiographic procedures and related techniques, producing images for the interpretation by or at the request of licensed practitioner. Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure.

Responsibilities
  1. Prepares patient for procedures; providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
  2. Assist the surgeon during surgical procedures in a manner as to make the procedure safe, effective and smooth flowing while adhering to strict aseptic techniques.
  3. Corroborates patient's clinical history with procedure, assuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner
  4. Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self and others. Assist the surgical team with lead protection and monitor badges when applicable.
  5. Assists in positioning patient for preparation of surgical procedure, best demonstrating anatomic area of interest and respecting patient ability and comfort.
  6. Radiology Technologist participates as an active member during the "time out/pause process" during any invasive procedures to insure adherence to universal protocol.
  7. Assists in evening duties and pre-procedure preparedness ensuring needed equipment available in operating rooms.
  8. Ensures radiology equipment stored in proper locations at shift end and lead aprons are distributed evenly amongst storage racks.
Qualifications Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited radiography program or equivalent, as evident by current certification; certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in radiography, or eligible; possesses valid state credential/license.
Experience
  • One (1) year of experience is preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • ARRT
  • LRRT
