Job description

RDQ327R182

At the company, we are passionate about enabling data teams to solve the world's most challenging problems โ€” from making the next mode of transportation a reality to accelerating medical breakthroughs. We do this by building and running the world's best data and AI platform, enabling our customers to use deep data insights to improve their businesses. Our ability to execute this mission depends on building trust and recognition within an ever-growing community of data engineers, analysts, scientists, machine learning practitioners, and AI practitioners.

Are you a Developer Advocate who thrives in the spotlight, loves presenting and hosting events, and is genuinely handsโ€‘on with agentic developer tooling โ€” the kind of person who has already wired up three coding agents and has opinions about what breaks?

As a Senior Developer Advocate for Omnigent, you'll be a vital bridge between our engineering teams and the open source community forming around Omnigent, our meta-harness for AI agents. Omnigent sits one level above harnesses like Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and Pi, giving developers a common interface to compose agents, govern them with contextual policies, sandboxing, and cost controls, and collaborate on live sessions from any device. Your focus is squarely on the open source project and the community around it: templates, demos, and reference implementations that developers can clone, fork, and extend, and the contributors who will help the project grow beyond us.

This is a build-the-community role. Omnigent is early, and the people who adopt it now will shape what it becomes. You'll help developers integrate it into their own stacks, make it easy for new contributors to land their first pull request, and create the kind of momentum where the project's best advocates are people who don't work here.

Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of knowledge-sharing activities. You'll deliver engaging talks, host panels and meetups, create blogs and video content, build courseware and sample repositories, answer questions in community forums and issue trackers, and meet oneโ€‘onโ€‘one with influential practitioners.

Reporting to the Head of Developer Relations, you'll collaborate with fellow Developer Advocates and program managers to create and execute a cohesive and impactful open source strategy.

The ideal candidate embodies the values of our Developer Relations team: a deep passion for data and AI, genuine empathy for developers' needs, and the ability to explain complex ideas clearly and responsibly.

More about the DevRel team

The Developer Relations (DevRel) team at the company is dedicated to building and fostering relationships with communities of data practitioners. Our goal is to drive awareness and adoption of the the company Data + AI Platform โ€” including Lakeflow, Lakebase, Genie Agents, and AI/BI โ€” alongside the open source projects that underpin it, such as Apache Sparkโ„ข, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, MLflow, Apache Icebergโ„ข, and Omnigent. Our team also owns programs like the the company MVP program, the user group program, and DevConnect roadshows.

The impact you will have
  • Own medium-to-large advocacy projects end-to-end for Omnigent, from scoping through delivery.
  • Grow the Omnigent contributor community: lower the barrier to a first contribution, review and triage in the open, and help new maintainers take on real responsibility.
  • Drive external adoption by showing developers how to integrate Omnigent into their existing agent stacks and their own products โ€” including stacks that have nothing to do with the company.
  • Create practical templates, sample repositories, and reference implementations that developers can clone, fork, and ship.
  • Create high-quality educational content โ€” videos, tutorials, courseware, and blog posts โ€” covering harness composition, contextual policies, sandboxing, and cost controls, and reuse each core asset across formats.
  • Drive awareness and adoption of Omnigent through speaking engagements at industry events, conferences, and meetups.
  • Act as a trusted advisor between the community and our engineering team, and influence roadmap discussions with what you learn.
  • Support developers where they already are โ€” GitHub issues, Discord, Slack, Stack Overflow, and Reddit โ€” and keep a real pulse on what's blocking them.
  • Mentor and unblock less-experienced advocates in content, demos, and public speaking.
What we look for
  • 5+ years of combined experience as a developer advocate and in a handsโ€‘on technical role โ€” software engineer, ML engineer, or solutions architect.
  • Professional experience actually building software, and current handsโ€‘on experience with agentic developer tooling and coding agents.
  • Strong Python and TypeScript skills, and comfort at the command line and in other people's codebases.
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to open source projects and working in the open โ€” issues, pull requests, reviews, and release processes.
  • Subject matter knowledge of agent architecture, orchestration, sandboxing, and the practical problems of running agents safely and affordably.
  • Experience growing a contributor community, not just a user base.
  • Active participation and recognized leadership in open source community forums, chats, and meetups โ€” measured by what the community builds with your help, not by follower count.
  • A public portfolio of technical work: repositories, tutorials, talks, or sustained community contributions.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with a talent for articulating complex concepts through writing, teaching, video, and public speaking.
  • Deep empathy for developer needs, with the ability to craft engaging experiences across tutorials, sample projects, and community platforms.
  • Adept at collaborating with crossโ€‘functional stakeholders to align community initiatives with product objectives.
