Purpose
Newviews is a Richmond-based creative, marketing, and video production agency working across brand campaigns, video production, public awareness campaigns, paid media, content strategy, and community storytelling. Our work has supported healthcare organizations, nonprofits, universities, political campaigns, real estate/development groups, conferences, and public-facing initiatives.
This is a high-upside role for someone who wants to help build a growing agency’s sales department, earn commission on their own deals, and participate in the upside of the broader team’s success.
The Sales Manager / Richmond Market Lead is responsible for building, managing, and driving Newviews’ commission-only sales system. This person owns the Richmond market while also leading the broader sales team across conference, DC, NYC, RFP/institutional, and proposal coordination lanes. This role is designed for someone who can sell, organize, lead, and hold people accountable without needing daily direction from the CEO.

Role Type

Independent Contractor
Commission-only
Reports to: CEO
Manages: Market Sales Agents and Proposal Coordinator
Advisory support from: Growth Strategy Advisor

Key Responsibilities

Lead the overall sales system and make sure every sales opportunity is tracked, qualified, followed up on, and moved toward close. Own the Richmond sales market, including local business outreach, referrals, brand campaign opportunities, video production leads, nonprofit opportunities, healthcare/community work, education, real estate, and local partnerships.
Manage the sales tracker and make sure all agents are updating lead status, next steps, proposal needs, and expected close dates. Qualify leads before proposals are built, making sure the opportunity is real, the client has a need, the budget is worth pursuing, and the project fits Newviews’ services. Coordinate with the Proposal Coordinator to make sure pitch decks, proposals, one-pagers, and scopes are created on time and match the opportunity.
Prepare pricing drafts and bring final pricing recommendations to the CEO for approval. Support sales agents on larger opportunities, stalled deals, difficult objections, and closing conversations. Run weekly sales meetings and send weekly pipeline updates to the CEO. Protect Newviews from bad deals by checking budget, scope, timeline, delivery feasibility, and projected profitability before anything is sent to a client.

Ideal Candidate

Strong relationship builder
Comfortable with sales leadership and accountability
Organized enough to manage a tracker and sales process
Able to sell without overpromising
Understands marketing, video, brand campaigns, or professional services
Can work independently in a commission-only environment
Has Richmond relationships or can quickly build them
