Job description

Imerza is a global digital twin consultancy partnering with visionary placemakers - developers, architects, and brands - to visualize complex information and data across every stage of the development lifecycle. From concepting to closing and beyond, we deliver measurable value through immersive intelligence: transforming raw geospatial and project data into powerful, real-time 3D environments that drive better decisions.
Imerza is part of the Together Group - a collective of world-class creative and marketing agencies including Noe & Associates, Visualisation One, Purple, Construct, Folk at Purple, HotPot China, and North Six. Together Group brings together specialist expertise across branding, visualisation, communications, and digital experience, giving Imerza access to an unparalleled network of talent and resources to deliver transformative outcomes for clients globally.
- Lead and manage all GIS technical deliverables across multiple projects, ensuring timely, high-quality outputs aligned with client requirements and company standards.
- Oversee the full GIS workflow, from data acquisition and processing to final integration into immersive environments.
- Maintain strict adherence to standardised data structures, schemas, naming conventions, and metadata protocols for all geospatial datasets.
- Develop, implement, and enforce best-practice GIS data management policies to ensure consistency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Perform advanced geospatial data processing, cleaning, transformation, and quality assurance using ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar platforms.
- Prepare and optimise GIS datasets (vector, raster, elevation/DEM, 3D features, and attribute data) for ingestion into Unreal Engine.
- Utilise Unreal Engine tools and plugins (e.g. ArcGIS Maps SDK for Unreal Engine) to import, geo-reference, and integrate GIS data into real-time 3D environments and digital twins.
- Collaborate closely with Unreal Engine developers, 3D artists, and visualisation teams to troubleshoot geospatial integration issues (coordinate systems, scale, precision, performance optimisation).
- Ensure geospatial accuracy, coordinate reference system alignment, and visual fidelity when translating GIS data into Unreal Engine scenes.
- Manage version control, backups, and archiving of GIS datasets to support project iteration and long-term asset reuse.
- Document GIS processes, data pipelines, and Unreal Engine ingestion workflows to facilitate team knowledge sharing and onboarding.
- Identify and implement opportunities to automate GIS-to-Unreal data pipelines for increased efficiency on large-scale projects.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior GIS team members on data standards, Unreal integration techniques, and project-specific requirements.
- Research and source GIS datasets to support world-building teams.
- Stay current with advancements in GIS technologies, game-engine geospatial tools, and emerging best practices for immersive digital twin development.
Required:
- Proven senior-level experience in GIS data management, processing, and analysis.
- Deep proficiency with ArcGIS, QGIS, or comparable GIS platforms.
- Hands-on experience integrating GIS data into Unreal Engine, including familiarity with the ArcGIS Maps SDK for Unreal Engine or similar geospatial game-engine plugins.
- Strong understanding of coordinate reference systems, projections, and geospatial accuracy requirements.
- Experience preparing and optimising vector, raster, DEM/elevation, and 3D feature datasets for real-time 3D environments.
- Ability to develop and enforce data standards, schemas, and documentation across teams.
- Experience with pipeline automation and scripting (Python or similar) for GIS data workflows.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
- comfortable working cross-functionally with 3D artists, developers, and project managers.
- Experience managing and mentoring junior team members.
Nice to Have:
- Background in real estate, architecture, urban planning, or related property development industries.
- Familiarity with digital twin platforms and immersive visualisation pipelines.
- Experience with game engines beyond Unreal Engine (e.g. Unity).
- Knowledge of BIM data and its integration with GIS environments.
- A globally distributed, collaborative team at the cutting edge of immersive technology.
- Exposure to high-profile, visionary real estate and placemaking projects worldwide.
- The opportunity to shape GIS best practices and build scalable workflows in an innovative, fast-growing consultancy.
- Flexible, remote-first working environment.
