Typically, you are given a passage of text to type within a set period, and the test calculates your words per minute (WPM) and error rate. These tests are often used for self-assessment, job applications, or to improve typing skills. Results can help identify areas for improvement and track progress over time.

What are the common challenges faced by online typing test administrators, and how can they be addressed?

Online typing test administrators often encounter challenges such as maintaining test integrity, handling a high volume of users, and ensuring compatibility across various devices and browsers. To address these, administrators implement robust anti-cheating measures, optimize the platform for performance, and regularly update software to support different operating systems. Collaboration with IT and customer support teams is key to resolving technical issues quickly and providing a smooth user experience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an online typing test administrator, and why are they important?

We buy and sell new, used, and broken consumer electronics - phones, laptops, tablets, gaming systems, and more - helping consumers and businesses get value from their electronics while promoting reuse and sustainability. Our stores offer a tech-driven alternative to competitors who short-change our customers - we pay more! - and business is booming.

We’re looking for a focused, detail-driven Retail Associate to join our Indianapolis team. From working with customers on the sales floor to prepping items for online resale including testing and photographing, this is a job for the technophile who wants to share their love of all things technology.

Position Summary:

This hybrid associate role combines front-of-house customer engagement with back-of-house eCommerce support. One moment you might be evaluating a smartphone trade-in and negotiating a price. The next, you could be photographing and listing a gaming console for eBay.

  • Evaluate and test electronics for purchase or trade
  • Use in-store tools and comps to price items fairly
  • Negotiate and close deals with professionalism
  • Ring out sales and trade-ins with accuracy
  • Build lasting customer relationships and trust

Operations & eCommerce (Back-of-House):

  • Test, clean, wipe, and reset devices
  • Photograph products with attention to detail and lighting
  • Create polished, SEO-optimized listings for platforms like Shopify and eBay
  • Input accurate data into POS and inventory systems
  • Pack and ship sold items quickly and carefully
  • Support daily productivity goals and team efficiency
  • Evaluate and test electronics for purchase or trade
  • Use in-store tools and comps to price items fairly
  • Negotiate and close deals with professionalism
  • Ring out sales and trade-ins with accuracy
  • Build lasting customer relationships and trust

Ideal Candidate:

  • Tech-savvy: Confident with smartphones, tablets, laptops, and game systems
  • Detail-oriented: You double-check your work and spot issues before they become problems
  • People-smart: Friendly, articulate, and comfortable working with a variety of customers
  • Self-motivated: You stay focused whether you're serving customers or listing devices
  • Fast & accurate: You type 60+ WPM and manage time well in a high-volume setting
  • Adaptable: You’re just as happy testing devices as you are closing sales

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in retail, sales, or customer service (preferred)
  • Knowledge of electronics and current tech trends
  • Comfort with PCs, folders, spreadsheets, POS, and inventory systems
  • eCommerce familiarity (Shopify, eBay, etc.) is a plus
  • Strong written communication and typing skills (typing test may be required)
  • Physical ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for long periods

Schedule & Pay:

  • Full-time (up to 40 hrs/week) and part-time roles available
  • Typical shifts: Monday–Friday, 10am–6pm; Saturday, 10am-4pm
  • Pay: $12–$17/hr depending on experience
  • Performance-based bonuses and advancement opportunities
  • Paid training
