JOB SUMMARY:

Reports to the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and the Director of the Appalachian Valley Autism (AVA) Center. The RBT Student Trainee will complete required coarse work to learn to provide ABA services to AVA Center's learners (pediatric clients). The Student Trainee would become a Registered Behavior Technician upon successful completion of a 40-hour training course, face-to-face direct supervised training with pediatric clients, in person competency conducted by BCBA and then successful passage of the RBT written (or computer generated) examination. Training will prepare Student Trainee to learn the role of an RBT which includes the implementation of a treatment plan developed by a BCBA addressing communication, behavior, feeding, activities of daily living (ADL) and social skills. The Student Trainee will learn to monitor the progress of a treatment plan and work closely with the BCBA to update the treatment plan, as necessary. Additionally, they will receive training to provide direct one-on-one behavioral interventions to teach communication, social, and daily living skills and reduce problematic behaviors in the home, community, and school settings. Student Trainees will learn stills to utilize interventions developed out of the science of Applied Behavior Analysis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Establishes & maintains therapeutic relationship by pairing self as a reinforcing entity and building the value for the learner's (pediatric client's). of social interaction under the supervision of an RBT or BCBA.
2. Prompts safe and socially acceptable replacement behaviors in order to build a repertoire of communication, social interaction, and problem-solving skills under the supervision of an RBT or BCBA..
3. Collaborates with family and treatment team members to provide treatment effectively and without disruption to the environment or other individuals in the environment under the supervision of an RBT or BCBA.
4. Educates parents on reinforcement and early intervention information under the supervision of an RBT or BCBA.
5. Assists with parent and caregiver training in line with learner's (pediatric client's) individualized treatment and behavior reduction protocols under the supervision of an RBT or BCBA.
6. Effectively communicate with parents and caregivers regarding learner's (pediatric client's) progress as instructed by the Board Certified Behavior Analyst.
7. Follows and records data for prescribed toilet training protocols under the supervision of an RBT or BCBA.
8. Educates all those involved about the role of ABA based interventions and the RBT, and functions within boundaries of the RBT role in providing treatment under the supervision of an RBT or BCBA.
9. Accurately collects behavior data including: A-B-C, count, frequency, duration, latency, inter-response time, event, and interval-based recording under the supervision of an RBT or BCBA.
10. Follows the treatment plan goals and interventions utilizing sound judgment and seeks out appropriate consultation with the BCBA.
11. Collaborates with family and treatment team members to provide treatment effectively under the supervision of an RBT or BCBA.
12. Educates parents on reinforcement and early intervention information under the supervision of an RBT or BCBA.
13. Educates all those involved about the role of ABA based interventions established by the BCBA under the supervision of an RBT or BCBA.
14. Collaborates with treatment team including parents and caregivers, outside professionals, Occupational Therapists, Speech Language Pathologist, and co-workers.
15. Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment.
16. Maintains and acquire technical knowledge by attending required trainings.
17. Performs other related duties and projects as assigned or requested.

21. Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance with the medical center code of conduct and applicable corporate policies and procedures.

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE:

High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Two years of completed coursework in psychology, education, social work, behavioral science, human development, or related fields is preferred. Must obtain and maintain current certification as a Registered Behavior Technician as issued by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). Must obtain the certification within two attempts each of an in-person competency and computer-generated examination. Must complete IBCCES Autism Certification, CPR, and any additional emergency medical training as required by AVA Center Director.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

There is a potential for being at risk of exposure to hazardous chemicals when working. Information regarding hazards and protective measures along with training on handling and storage of hazardous materials will be provided prior to initial assignment to work with hazardous chemicals, whenever the hazard changes, and on an annual basis.
