Job description

Job Overview:
R B Hinkle Construction Inc is seeking a reliable and physically capable General Laborer/Groundsman to support our construction projects. This role involves a variety of manual tasks to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, as well as assisting skilled tradespeople on site.
Job Responsibilities-
  • Perform general site clean-up, including sweeping, raking, and removing debris.
  • Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment from trucks and trailers.
  • Assist with the setup and teardown of construction sites, including placing safety cones and barriers.
  • Operate and maintain basic hand tools and power tools under supervision (e.g., shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows, leaf blowers).
  • Perform groundskeeping duties such as mowing, trimming, and weeding on construction sites and surrounding areas.
  • Dig trenches and holes as directed.
  • Assist skilled tradesmen (carpenters, masons, etc.) with various tasks as needed.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and report any malfunctions.
  • Transport materials and equipment around the job site.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.

Job Qualifications-
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Prior experience in a construction or landscaping environment is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs. regularly), standing, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Strong work ethic and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites preferred. Commitment to safety on the job site.
