About the Position

Our Temporary Warehouse Drivers with the Maricopa County Recorder's Office assist with election activities by preparing and transporting equipment, making deliveries, and assembling election material and voter center supplies. This position involves supporting warehouse functions and driving in phases to ensure timely deliveries. This cross-functional position will also support divisional operations within early voting (Signature Verification, Curing, etc.). The ideal candidate will be adaptable, possess strong interpersonal skills, and learn new tasks quickly. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain broad experience within the organization and contribute to various initiatives.

The Maricopa County Recorder's Office (MCRO) is responsible for maintaining the Maricopa County voter registration records and for administering over elections in partnership with the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors. The MCRO also maintains the permanent public record of over 50 million documents dating back to 1871, including deeds, plat maps, and a variety of other important documents. Our office serves over 2.5 million registered voters as well as 4.4 million residents across Maricopa County. We Require

This position requires a High School diploma or GED.

Other Requirements

  • Must be a registered voter, or have the ability to become a registered voter, in the State of Arizona by the time of hire
  • Must be able to pass an applicable background screening
  • Must be able to work the full work assignment, extensive irregular hours, and shifts based on the department's needs
  • Must possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid Arizona driver's license by the time of hire
  • May require the use of a County vehicle, which would require a valid driver's license, current auto insurance, and attendance in Maricopa County's Defensive Driving Course

  • Two or more years of professional driving experience
  • One or more years of warehouse experience
  • Experience driving a 26-foot box truck with air brakes

Job Contributions

  • Prepares Election Supplies in a warehouse environment, and supports other warehouse functions such as checking equipment in and out, lifting and stacking inventory, and general warehouse maintenance
  • Replenishes labels, pallet stacks, loads/unloads trailers and trucks, and moves stowed products to various locations
  • Drives a 26-ft box truck with air brakes to deliver and pick up Elections materials (Driving will occur in phases and could change.)
  • Transports equipment and items to and from Polling Locations and Vote Centers
  • Works in teams of two with a partner from a different political party
  • Fulfills and organizes orders to ensure vote centers have adequate equipment and ensure the delivery process is efficient and accurate
  • Follows a checklist to ensure that the setup of Vote Center is done accurately and completely, and verifies that the room and/or area allocated for equipment is available for use, and checks that the correct equipment was delivered before setup
  • Collaborates with Poll Workers and T-Techs to deliver equipment to set up Voter Centers and Polling Locations before opening for Election Activities
  • Assists other divisions of The Recorder's Office with their daily functions and activities, along with other job duties as assigned

Working Conditions

This position requires:

  • Full-time/Temporary/Holiday/Overtime hours (This is mandatory during the election cycle)
  • The ability to sit or stand for extended periods and the use of upper extremity repetitive motion
  • Daily repetitive manual lifting and moving of election equipment, the ability to lift floor-to-shoulder and shoulder-to-waist up to 40 pounds and carry for 100 feet, and the ability to push/pull up to 50 pounds for 200 feet
  • The work environment may be outdoors in high temperatures or indoors in a warehouse setting
  • The use of a pallet jack and a County vehicle to travel within Maricopa County
  • Driving that will occur sporadically and in the last phase of the election cycle
  • A commitment that you will not engage in any political discussion
