MyLocalPress.com focuses on bringing small-town and local news to life, fostering community engagement, and promoting responsible reporting. The platform provides tools and resources to ensure that local stories are told authentically and effectively, bridging the gap in regional news coverage.

Role Description

This is a full-time or part-time on-site role for an Independent Journalist, located in cities and towns where newspapers have closed or independent journalism is underrepresented. The Independent Journalist will focus on reporting and producing compelling news stories, creating press releases, conducting thorough research, and engaging in news writing, interviews and broadcasting. Responsibilities also include identifying local stories, interviewing sources, and ensuring accurate and ethical reporting to meet deadlines.

MyLocalPress.com lets users publish news, videos, interviews, podcasts, or live broadcasts as independent journalists or entities. Publishers can sell ads and coupons to local businesses using built-in ad creation and payment tools, including recurring payments with credit cards. They keep 90% of ad sales, with 10% supporting the platform, and there is potential for profit sharing. To receive payments, publishers must link a free Stripe account; payments are processed through Stripe and paid directly into their bank accounts.
