Job description

Meteorologist – Denver, CO (KDVR/WKGN-TV)

Reports to – News Director KDVR Fox 31 Denver and KWGN/Colorado’s CW 2 has an immediate opening for an experienced Meteorologist to join the Pinpoint Weather Team. This is an extremely rare opportunity in a great city with an excellent quality of life. We are looking for a Meteorologist who is passionate about weather. The successful candidate must know how to make the forecast presentable and interesting and love to produce weathercasts in different ways. You should be able to produce creative graphics and make your show interesting, urgent, and impactful. You must also be able to report LIVE in all sorts of weather conditions. Knowledge of “Weather Alert Day” branding is a plus. Knowledge of mountain meteorology and Colorado is a big benefit. This position goes beyond forecasting in newscasts to also include anchoring streaming weather programs and extended live breaking weather coverage.

Requirements
  • Anchoring weathercasts on linear television and digital platforms.
  • Anchor Digital streaming weather programs and provide custom digital forecasts.
  • Extended live breaking weather coverage.
  • Contribute to partner radio stations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Live or recorded field reporting for newscasts and other local programs.
  • Reel must include a full weathercast.
Qualifications
  • College degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science or related field of study preferred.
  • Certified Broadcast designation from AMS and/or NWA helpful.
  • Ideal candidate will be familiar with The Weather Company Max technology.
  • Three years experience as a Broadcast Meteorologist.
  • Must be able to work with a high degree of accuracy and have the ability to solve problems quickly.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule that will include On Call shifts and filling in on various shifts as needed.
  • Must be able to work under deadlines and be good at multi-tasking.
  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
