Job description

Descartes Learning Club (https://descarteslearningclub.com) is a boutique provider of high-quality K–8 math enrichment programs across the Bay Area. Our mission is to develop analytical thinkers who love math and build confidence through problem-solving. We teach in very small groups (typically 1–6 students) using engaging curriculum, strong pedagogy, and a warm classroom culture.


Pay: $60–$100/hr. depending on academic qualifications and experience. Our typical starting rate is $65 per hour, with higher rates for candidates with advanced mathematics backgrounds (e.g., a Ph.D. in Mathematics from a leading university) and/or strong achievements in mathematics competitions.


Schedule: 1–2.5 hr teaching blocks between ~3–6pm on weekdays and/or weekends (SF weekends only). Most instructors teach ~3–10 hours/week.


Job Type: Part-Time, In-Person


Important Requirement

We are specifically seeking instructors who can commit through at least the full fall term (late August to December 19, 2026, excluding regular holidays) and strongly prefer teachers who can teach the full school year including the spring term excluding spring breaks and holidays.

Locations: School campuses near Muni/BART in SF, partner schools on the Peninsula, East Bay and Marin. Most of our classes are in SF and the Peninsula.
