Job description

This posting is primarily for in-person instruction on the Lafayette campus. Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the School.
This position and the posting will stay open continuously in order to build a pool of qualified candidates for future openings as Adjunct Instructors. Applicants will not be notified unless there is an actual need to fill the position or if the candidate does not meet minimum requirements.
Job Description
PROGRAM OPERATION: Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes. Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements. Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy. Submits requested information within established timelines. STUDENTS: Is available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions/provide assistance. Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with program coordinator to resolve issues. INSTRUCTION: Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s). Use technology such as Canvas, Online Homework System, etc. as appropriate. In event of emergency absence, notifies program/department chair.
Must have strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to area of instruction, faculty credentials as outlined in the ASOM 7.1 as applicable to the specific area of instruction.
A qualified faculty member in mathematics is one who has an earned master's or higher degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in mathematics, or a master's degree with 18 graduate semester credit hours in mathematics-related courses.
Faculty with extensive graduate credits, but no graduate degree, can be determined to have met the requirement if the individual is ABD (All but Dissertation) or has amassed 45 graduate hour credits in a single program that meets the requirements specific to the course being taught.
Faculty with a master's degree in secondary education with a relevant concentration (such as mathematics) can be determined to have met the requirement if the individual has 12 graduate credits in the field and 12 undergraduate credits in the field at the 300 and 400 level. This applies to general education courses that are 100 level only.
Teaching experience.
Selected candidate for employment will be subject to pre-employment background checks, including criminal history check, and any offer of employment will be contingent upon that outcome.
Copies of transcripts may be required at time of interview. Original hard copies of transcripts will be required at time of hire.
