Online Logistics Teaching Jobs (NOW HIRING)

The University of Southern Maine's Business Administration Department is seeking part-time instructor applicants for our Summer 2026 Session, as well as our 2026 - 2027 Academic Year. 

We are seeking successful candidates who are able to teach in our Bachelor's and MBA Degree programs.  Instructors will be responsible for the full delivery and grading of the course. Responsibilities include developing the course, teaching, assessing student performance, and meeting with students as needed. The instructor will be provided with the course learning objectives, program competencies, and suggested topical outline and will be given a previous course syllabus available for reference.

Courses to be taught may include but are not limited to: 

Applied Business Modeling (BUS 241) (Spring 2027 - Online): This technology-driven, workforce-alignment course is designed to make students think about structuring varied business situations for quantitative analysis. It introduces principles and techniques for building and implementing decision-making models using Excel. The topics drawn are relevant to a variety of business disciplines, such as analytics, operations, marketing, finance, and accounting. The course emphasizes the application of spreadsheet modeling techniques in the area of statistics for analyzing and implementing business solutions. In addition to introducing students to spreadsheets, it will cover a wide range of Excel functions and tools for business analysis including, what-if, goal seek, probability distributions, data visualization, look-up functions, tables, scenario manager, managing Excel add-ons, arrays, statistical analysis, and regression.

Entrepreneurial Thinking (BUS 300) (Spring 2027 - In Person/Online): This course provides students an inside view of how entrepreneurial thinking can be applied in many environments including social ventures, corporations, venture capital and new ventures. Students will develop a basic knowledge of identifying opportunities, assessing required resources, planning and executing an entrepreneurial venture while developing an understanding of value propositions and risks. 

Managing Organizational Behavior (BUS 340) (Spring 2027 - In Person/Online): A survey of the disciplines of management and organizational behavior, and of the practices managers employ in planning, organizing, leading, and controlling organizations. Topics include self-awareness, perception and decision making, individual differences and diversity, motivation, group dynamics, communication, stress, power and politics, organizational design, and change. The environmental context, workforce diversity, the global economy, and managerial ethics are core integrating themes. 

Logistics Management (BUS 371) (Spring 2027 - Online): Logistics operations primarily cover the movement and the storage of goods and services in a supply chain. The management of transactions in these processes is crucial for logistics operations. This course covers various areas pertaining to the management of traffic, carrier operations, selection of carriers, & warehousing.

Project Management (BUS 373) (Spring 2027 - Online): This course addresses the managerial concepts and technical tools required for evaluating, planning, managing, and controlling projects. The topics include but not limited to strategic issues, project selection, risk analysis, work, breakdown structures, PERT/ CPM, resource management, conflict issues, and managing people. 

Production/Operations Management (BUS 375) (Spring 2027 - In Person/Online):  This course undertakes an examination of the role of operations within manufacturing and service organizations. Emphasis is placed upon recognizing operational opportunities and tradeoffs and employing quantitative and qualitative tools and decision support systems to assist strategic and operational decision-making. The general functions of operations management as applied to the transformation process are covered. Operations management concepts and analytical methods of handling problems in manufacturing and service operations are presented. Some of the important topics include but are not limited to Project Management, Quality Control, Capacity Planning, Inventory Management, Aggregate Planning and Short-Term Scheduling.

Business Policy and Strategy (BUS 450) (Spring 2027 - Online): An in-depth examination of the strategic management process in large complex organizations. This course uses case study analysis, discussion and integrative capstone projects to provide students with opportunities to learn and to apply strategic management theories and concepts. These include competitive analysis, value-chain analysis, generic business strategies, corporate strategy, and global strategy. 

The University of Southern Maine's Department of Computer Science provides a solid and complete computer science education built upon the foundation of mathematics, science, and liberal arts. Part-time faculty members are paid on a credit hour basis based on prior teaching experience, as determined by the Part-Time Faculty Association of Maine (PATFA), an affiliate of the national American Federation of Teachers (AFT) union.
