Description
Carnegie Mellon University seeks a Lecturer in Japanese Studies at our Pittsburgh, PA campus, responsible for teaching a wide range of courses in Japanese language and culture studies. Specific duties include: (i) delivering instruction for multiple undergraduate and graduate courses in Japanese language and cultural studies; (ii) assessing student progress, including creating and grading student assignments; (iii) providing verbal and written feedback to students; (iv) preparing detailed course syllabi and instructions; (v) selecting varied, top-notch teaching materials; (vi) coordinating language courses; (vii) developing online materials, courses, and assessments; and (viii) participating in Professional Development to remain current in the field.
Qualifications
Must have a Master's degree in Japanese Studies, Languages and Cultures, Language Education, or Applied Linguistics.
Must have a demonstrated record of teaching excellence in the field, knowledge of Japanese culture, and have native speaker level proficiency in Japanese.
