Salary Placement and Work Hours: This is a 12-month, full-time position. Placement will be on the E3 Salary Schedule with a range of $41,349 - $65,218, dependent on verifiable and applicable work experience and education. Placement is determined by the President and Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees Policy and salary schedule guidelines. The typical work week is Monday through Friday. Hours worked will be a minimum of 40 per week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Functions: The primary functions of the Learning Resources Center Secretary are to provide secretarial support and administrative assistance to the Head Librarian, other librarians, and the Learning Resources Center (LRC) and to comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and Northeast Alabama Community College. The immediate supervisor for this position is the Head Librarian.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate use of the LRC by students, employees, and the community by performing general duties such as (but not limited to) the following: answering the telephone, assisting patrons in locating materials, and working the circulation desk
  • Provide general secretarial support to the Head Librarian and other librarians
  • Provide interlibrary loan services for students, employees, and Library Management Network
  • Prepare required reports, correspondence, and other written and electronic materials
  • Assist with inventory and shelve books
  • Process mail
  • Prepare and maintain records of correspondence
  • Assist with equipment inventory and circulation
  • Assist in maintaining LRC technology
  • Assist in technical processing of new books and materials
  • Assist in equipment distribution and recordkeeping

Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proficient use of spreadsheets, databases, and word processing using such software as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, etc. is required
  • Outstanding communication, presentational, and writing skills with proficiency in the English language
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to compose and maintain accurate reports, records, and correspondence
  • Understanding of customer service/public relations etiquette
  • Ability to bend, stretch, stoop, and lift items up to 20 pounds when completing job-related tasks such as shelving books or picking up mail from mailroom

Minimum Required Education, Training, and/or Experience:
  • An associate degree from a regionally accredited institution is required; Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution is preferred

Sick Leave
All regular full-time non-instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is the equivalent of 8 hours of sick leave per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Upon retirement, employees are allowed to convert unused sick time into service time for the purpose of retirement. Retirement
The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions. Responsibility for the management and administration of the TRS is vested in its Board of Control.
