Java Developer
Location: Denver, CO/ Chicago IL/ Washington DC/ Charlotte NC

Role Overview
This role is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities include ensuring that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements. This role ensures solutions are well designed with maintainability, ease of integration, and testing built-in from the outset. These individuals possess proficiency in development and testing practices and have experience using design and architectural patterns.
Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to story refinement and defining requirements.
  • Participate and guide the team in estimating work necessary to realize a story or requirement.
  • Perform proof of concepts as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas.
  • Code solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement per the defined acceptance criteria.
  • Utilize multiple architectural components in the design and development of client requirements.
  • Assist the team with resolving technical complexities involved in realizing story work.
  • Design, develop, and modify architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites (integration, regression, performance).
  • Set up and develop a continuous integration and continuous delivery pipeline.
  • Automate manual release activities.
  • Mentor other Software Engineers and coach the team on CI/CD practices and automating the tool stack.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience in Java application development and object-oriented design principles.
  • Hands-on experience with the Spring ecosystem, including Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Integration, Spring Batch, and Spring ORM.
  • Experience designing and developing REST and SOAP web services using JSON and XML.
  • Understanding of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and microservices-based application development.
  • Experience with cloud-based platforms and technologies.
  • Proficiency with source control systems such as Git and Bitbucket.
  • Experience with Maven, JUnit, Test-Driven Development (TDD), and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases, preferably Cassandra.
  • Experience with relational databases such as Oracle or SQL Server.
  • Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka, MQ, and event-driven messaging architectures.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Verbal and written communication skills and ability to work in an Agile development environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience building scalable, high-volume, real-time transaction processing systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of Cassandra data modeling and performance tuning.
  • Deep understanding of Apache Kafka, MQ messaging frameworks, and event streaming patterns.
  • Experience with distributed systems, cloud-native applications, and microservices architecture.
  • Exposure to financial services, fraud detection, or high-availability enterprise platforms is a plus.
